5 Attitudes to Resist Entanglements

An Attitude of Solitude
“All of humanity’s problems stem from man’s inability to sit quietly alone.” — Blaise Pascal
Matthew 4:1–2 ESV
Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And after fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.
Jesus was BY HIMSELF for 40 days and nights.
Even throughout His ministry, Jesus made it a priority to spend time alone to be with God.
BE BY YOURSELF WITHOUT DISTRACTIONS.
Do not be afraid of yourself. Do not even be afraid of sitting alone with your own thoughts.
Developing a strong sense of individuality makes stronger relationships.
An Attitude of Fortitude
2 Corinthians 10:5 ESV
We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,
Having a strong mind is KEY. Mental health is so important in our days.
Developing healthy thought patterns has the power to reverse generational traumas.
THERAPY. BOUNDARIES. HEALTHY SPACE.
In a relationship, having a strong MIND will allow you to carry your partner through their own difficult times.
3. An Attitude of Servitude
Philippians 2:4 ESV
Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
Having an attitude of servitude moves the focus from yourself to others.
Serving in your workplace. Serving at school.
SERVING FROM A PLACE OF LOVE, NOT OF TRANSACTION.
Not only in life, but also in relationships.
4. An Attitude of Gratitude
1 Thessalonians 5:18 ESV
give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
I believe that gratitude is the greatest form of resistance.
Sometimes, we have to learn how to say “thank you” to people. Even when they do things better than we do.
Let’s say thank you to people that correct us.
5. An Attitude of Altitude
Psalm 141:2 ESV
Let my prayer be counted as incense before you, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice!
In the Old Testament, there was a sanctuary with a prayer altar. The prayer altar had incense.
Pray for others. Pray for yourself.
Pray just because you feel like praying.
Abba’s Child
Man wanting to pray
JESUS CHAIR
Died with his chair...
Conclusion
I say all of these things, so that you can develop a healthy relationship with yourself, with others, and with God.
Don’t fall out, lean back.
I’M ALL WRAPPED UP, I’M ALL TIED UP, I’M ALL TANGLED UP IN JESUS!
