We have a party going on and it’s still going til 6 in the morning.

What a great way to celebrate Pastor Orr, on his birthday during missions month. . by having 24hours of prayer.

Philippians 4:6–7 ESV

6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

persistent prayer, in the proper position, provides powerful peace

There are issues going on all over our land and country. Evil is all around us, theft and murder. We are all looking for peace, we need peace and there is only one way to obtain it.

If you desire True Peace in this Evil world, Keep Praying!!

Persistent Prayer

Always

in everything and about everything

Paul was persistent in prayer: prayed in jail, prayed out of jail,

Why?

Because prayer is a powerful resource for the follower of Christ.

we are able to talk to God; and commune with Him.

Specifically in this text Paul speaks of Petition and Requests.

Petition- i ask God for forgiveness, forgiveness of my current position or predicament.

david- have mercy on me because of you stedfast love.

Request- Asking God for what your heart desires.

jesus is on the mainline , tell him what you want.

1 john 5:13-15

1 John 5:13–15 ESV

13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life. 14 And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.

Jesus says: ask and it shall be given, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened.

The problem with us os that we don’t ask!!

SOME time ago, my two boys were arguing and fighting over something. Dylan said, “Daniel keeps taking my stuff!” Daniel said, “Well, he won’t share.” Then Daniel gets spiritual and says, “Daddy, didn’t you teach us to share?”

“But he won’t ask!” Dylan cried. “I don’t mind sharing it if he would just ask for it and not be presumptuous and just come take it. All he’s got to do is ask.” I interjected, “Daniel, ask him.” So Daniel reluctantly said, “May I use it?” Dylan replied, “Yes, all you had to do is ask.” Do you know that God wants to deal with things in your life if you just ask? You do not have because you do not ask.

could it be we don’t have because we don’t ask.

Proper Position

with thanksgiving

it is important for us to be thankful and have gratitude when we pray.

God wants us to ask,

He wants us to ask in faith

and he wants us to do it with excitement

she asks with confidence, knowing she is going to get what she wants every time.

Powerful Peace

Guards heart and mind

Paul says outside of the reality that God can do exceedingly and abundantly above all. . . one thing that is needed for us as we pray is peace.

the peace of God is what we need. Praying gives us a sense of peace and calm. . even in turbulent situations.

Jesus says to the storms Peace be still. . when he heals from town to town. . he’s bringing peace to bad situations.

Paul uses a military metaphor in describing the activity of God’s peace, which is almost personified. Will guard, phrourēsei, is better expressed in the military language of ‘will keep guard over’ (cf. 2 Cor. 11:32 for the verb in this sense). The Philippians, living in a garrison town, would be familiar with the sight of the Roman sentry, maintaining his watch. Likewise, comments the apostle, God’s peace will garrison and protect your hearts and your minds.

At all times, especially in difficult situations

When i thought about it, i thought about one of my favorite movies: Taken. A former government agent has a daughter who get kidnapped while on a trip out the country. He used his former training to locate where she was, who took her, and forcibly bring her home. No matter how far away she was; her father was able to keep guard over her .

that’s just like God.
