50. THE BLOOD OF THE SAVIOUR (Acts 20:28)

What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus! It was necessary that Jesus shed His blood. Without the blood there is no remission—Heb. 9:22. His blood cleanses us from all sin—1 John 1:7. Regardless of the sin, His blood cleanses it

I. PERFECT BLOOD

A. Old Testament, the Lamb had to be perfect—Exod. 12:5

(At the time of the Passover, the lamb had to be perfect)

B. New Testament, Jesus the Lamb was a perfect lamb—1 Peter 1:19

(He was the perfect Son of God, without spot or blemish)
BECAUSE JESUS HAD A VIRGIN BIRTH, HE HAD SPECIAL BLOOD, WHICH COULD CLEANSE FROM ALL SIN. IF IT HAD BEEN MAN’S BLOOD, THERE COULD BE NO FORGIVENESS OF SIN

II. PRECIOUS BLOOD

(Precious means something that cost a great price)

A. This cost Jesus to die upon the cross—John 3:14–16

B. Lambs and goats could not forgive sin—Heb. 10:14

(Old Testament sacrifices did not forgive sin, it just covered them—Jesus’ blood washes away all sin)

C. Jesus the Lamb of God—John 1:29

(Not through a church, nor a man, nor a religion, but Christ)

D. Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb—1 Peter 1:18–19

(Not money, nor gold, but through Jesus’ blood)

III. PREVAILING BLOOD

A. Cleansing from all sin—1 John 1:7

(Not what we have done, but what Christ has done for us)

B. Life is in the blood—Lev. 17:1

(Both physical and spiritual life is in the blood)

C. Peace through the blood—Col. 1:20

(His blood cleanses us, and gives us peace within our hearts)

D. Purging (cleansing) through the blood—Heb. 9:14 THERE IS POWER IN THE BLOOD OF JESUS TO TAKE THE WORST OF ALL SINNERS, AND MAKE HIM THE BEST OF ALL CHRISTIANS

IV. POWERFUL BLOOD

A. Healed by His blood—1 Peter 2:24

B. Forgiven by His blood—Isa. 1:18

C. Justified by His blood—Rom. 5:9

D. Sanctified by His blood—Heb. 13:12

E. Redeemed by His blood—Titus 2:14

F. Brought nigh by His blood—Eph. 2:13

There is power in His blood to protect and to keep us. When we are disobedient and get out from under the blood, we suffer injury. Keep near to Him, and under His blood daily
