The Coming Kingdom pt 2
Friday, we began to go over an outline to what the believer can expect the coming Kingdom to be. Our reference is the Bible conference intitled, “Israel, yesterday, today and tomorrow.” This can be found by going to the website of Pastor Andy Woods at www.SLBC.org. the conference in its entirety can be seen there.
Andy lists 14 Characteristics of the Kingdom to come.
So far
1. Established by God (Daniel 2:44)
2. Eternal (Daniel 7:27)
3. Christ’s direct rule (Zech 9:9-10)
4. Earthly (Zech 14:9)
5. Land Promises realized (Gen 15:18-21)
6. Israel’s preeminence (Isa 49:22-23)
7. Millennial temple (Ezek 40-46)
8. Millennial David (jer. 30:9)
Now we will pick up with the point that the Millennial kingdom is
9. Righteous.
2 Peter 3:13 (NASB95) — 13 But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.
Isaiah 9:6–7 (NASB95) — 6 For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. 7 There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.
To know God is to know his righteousness. To know righteousness as God has revealed it to us causes us to crave for it and to be grieved when we see the lack of righteousness and Justice in our time. Our hearts are heavy as we watch as wicked prospers in its time.
Proverbs 29:2 (NASB95) — 2 When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, But when a wicked man rules, people groan.
Proverbs 11:10 (NASB95) — 10 When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices, And when the wicked perish, there is joyful shouting.
Yes, the wicked may have say in our time but in the Kingdom the voice of the wicked will be shut.
Psalm 37:1–6 (NASB95) — 1 Do not fret because of evildoers, Be not envious toward wrongdoers. 2 For they will wither quickly like the grass And fade like the green herb. 3 Trust in the Lord and do good; Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness. 4 Delight yourself in the Lord; And He will give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, and He will do it. 6 He will bring forth your righteousness as the light And your judgment as the noonday.
10. Curse is curtailed
The Earth was blessed when on the sixth day God completed his work and saw all that he had made was very good.
But enters sin and rebellion then man is outside in the outer darkness outside of God’s presence and outside of God’s blessings.
Blessing and cursing are like Light and darkness. Light is God’s blessings. And like darkness is the absence of light, curses are the absence of the blessings of God.
Man in his rebellion seeks to function outside the boundaries of God’s design, bringing upon himself and his environment darkness.
Man is not the product of His environment
The environment is the product of the sinful creature in his rebellion against God.
Again, hearts are grieved and long for the day when the curse will be lifted.
There was but one Judgment for sin and that is death. In Genesis 3 with then entrance of sin into the world there was but one judgment which is sin. All else which is listed in Genesis 3, the conflict in marriage, the increased pain in childbirth, the working by the sweat on the brow and more are the curses that came with the fall.
With the establishment of the kingdom that cures of sin among other things will be reversed.
Isaiah 65:20–22 (NASB95) — 20 “No longer will there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, Or an old man who does not live out his days; For the youth will die at the age of one hundred And the one who does not reach the age of one hundred Will be thought accursed. 21 “They will build houses and inhabit them; They will also plant vineyards and eat their fruit. 22 “They will not build and another inhabit, They will not plant and another eat; For as the lifetime of a tree, so will be the days of My people, And My chosen ones will wear out the work of their hands.
11. Peace
Isaiah 2:4 (NASB95) — 4 And He will judge between the nations, And will render decisions for many peoples; And they will hammer their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, And never again will they learn war.
Peace is Shalom in the Hebrew and Irene in the Greek.
Peace is Harmony between the creature and his Creator. It is manifested in an earthly peace when wars are no more.
In the Millennial kingdom Righteousness will rule with a Iron Scepter. It will not be the Peace of Rome, but it will be the Peace of Christ. where there exists Righteousness and justice there is peace and order.
That peace will even extend to the animal kingdom.
Isaiah 11:1–10
12. Prosperity
There is an inefficiency in sin. Sin dries up blessing as it distances oneself from the blesser. It would have to be inconceivable for the Christ to be ruling over a ghetto. And impoverished earth. Again, the key is righteousness and established justice that curtails sin allowing prosperity to take place.
Amos 9:13–14 (NASB95) — 13 “Behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord, “When the plowman will overtake the reaper And the treader of grapes him who sows seed; When the mountains will drip sweet wine And all the hills will be dissolved. 14 “Also I will restore the captivity of My people Israel, And they will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them; They will also plant vineyards and drink their wine, And make gardens and eat their fruit.
Isaiah 65:22 (NASB95) — 22 “They will not build and another inhabit, They will not plant and another eat; For as the lifetime of a tree, so will be the days of My people, And My chosen ones will wear out the work of their hands.
13. Topographical Changes
There will be a great population boom. And the Lord will provide for it by making inhabitable regions habitable.
Isaiah 35:1–2 (NASB95) — 1 The wilderness and the desert will be glad, And the Arabah will rejoice and blossom; Like the crocus 2 It will blossom profusely And rejoice with rejoicing and shout of joy. The glory of Lebanon will be given to it, The majesty of Carmel and Sharon. They will see the glory of the Lord, The majesty of our God.
Ever wondered what Eden must have looked like. Well, those in the Lord will have the experience.
The curse will even be lifted from the barren dead sea which was cursed with the fall of Sodom and Gomorrah.
Ezekiel 47:8–9 (NASB95) — 8 Then he said to me, “These waters go out toward the eastern region and go down into the Arabah; then they go toward the sea, being made to flow into the sea, and the waters of the sea become fresh. 9 “It will come about that every living creature which swarms in every place where the river goes, will live. And there will be very many fish, for these waters go there and the others become fresh; so everything will live where the river goes.
14. Immediate Answers to prayer
Isaiah 65:24 (NASB95) — 24 “It will also come to pass that before they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear.
Isaiah 58:9 (NASB95) — 9 “Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; You will cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’ If you remove the yoke from your midst, The pointing of the finger and speaking wickedness,
It is in the day with the lifting of the curse and the law is placed within the hearts of God’s people that the waiting for the Lord will be no more, there will a immediate response to prayer.
This is not a conclusive list. The counting of the blessings of the Kingdom of heaven will be a continual and forever.
1 Corinthians 2:9 (NASB95) — 9 but just as it is written, “Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard, And which have not entered the heart of man, All that God has prepared for those who love Him.”
Why settle and be satisfied and set your heart on earthly desires and settle for good enough. For it is those who are seeking The Kingdom and His righteousness who are truly happy in every circumstance.
Whether they are prosperous or poor as church mice it is the happy the blessed whose hearts are not satisfied with the world today but whose heart is set on the coming kingdom.
