I have Overcome the World!

June 26, 2022

John 16:25-33 ~ Jesus Christ has Overcome the World:

• Jesus taught in analogies, parables, proverbs, metaphors and allegory.

• Matthew 13:10-17 tells us why He spoke this way.

• We can go directly to the Father, in Jesus’ name.

• God is a loving Father.

• Jesus existed with the Father before He came to earth ~ and He was going back to the Father.

• The disciples now say they believe Jesus came from God, the Father.

• Jesus knew the disciples would forsake Him. Matthew 26:56 and Mark 14:50

• Spiritually ~ He was never alone. And neither are we!

• Jesus is referring to everything He had spoken to His disciples in John, chapters 14, 15 & 16.

• Jesus spoke these things so that we may have peace. The Word of God gives us peace.

• We will have trouble in this world ~ but we can still be of good cheer. Because Jesus has overcome the world!

• ‘Overcome’ is Strong’s Concordance G3528 and means to conquer, prevail, to subdue, to get the victory.

• The word, ‘world’ is the Greek word, ‘kosmos’ and refers to the earth and its inhabitants. The inhabitants of the earth, that haven’t come to Christ, function apart from God, in a world system ruled by Satan.

• Believers are not spiritually of this world ~ we are no longer ruled by sin or bound by the principles of this world, ruled by the evil one.

John 16:33

‘And everything I’ve taught you is so that the peace which is in Me will be in you and will give you great confidence as you rest in Me. For in this unbelieving world you will experience trouble and sorrows, but you must be courageous, for I have conquered the world!’ TPT

‘I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.] AMP

Inner peace is only possible through a relationship with Jesus Christ!

Isaiah 26:3

‘You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.’

John 15:18-19

‘Just remember, when the unbelieving world hate you, they first hated me. If you were to give your allegiance to the world, they would love and welcome you as one of their own. But because you won’t align yourself with the values of this world, they will hate you. I have chosen you and taken you out of the world to be mine.’ TPT

John 17:14-16

‘I have given them Your word. And the world hates them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one. They do not belong to this world any more than I do.’ NLT

2 Corinthians 4:4

‘Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.’ NLT

1 John 5:4-5

‘For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith. And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.’ NLT

We overcome the world ~ by believing in Jesus ~ and that He has overcome the world!
