I. Jesus’ Busy Schedule vs. 1-17
I. Jesus’ Busy Schedule vs. 1-17
A. Jesus has a very busy schedule, He’s healing, He’s preaching, and He’s traveling. Yet He always makes time for His Father. Luke 5:16
But Jesus Himself would often slip away to the wilderness and pray.
B. He always makes time for people. These accounts show that Jesus loved people.
C. Do we make time for the Lord and others in our busy schedules.
II. Jesus’ Surprise vs. 5-13
II. Jesus’ Surprise vs. 5-13
A. Jesus tells a Roman centurion, that He would come heal his servant. For Jesus to say He would even go to a Gentile’s home would cause an uproar with the religious leaders. But the fact that he was a Roman centurion, an oppressor of the Jews, this would have been unforgivable from the point of view of the religious leaders.
B. This Roman centurion had more faith, then all of the religious leaders combined.
C. Jesus says that the Kingdom of Heaven will be filled with these prodigals and castaways, instead of the religious leaders with misplaced faith.
D. They hated Jesus for telling them they were going to hell.
E. We need to go after “those people”, and have faith in Jesus. II Cor. 9:6
Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
III. Jesus’ Rest vs. 18-27
III. Jesus’ Rest vs. 18-27
A. Jesus basically has a guy reject Him, while it would sadden Jesus, He moved on. It doesn’t mean we quit trying, or praying, but many will have someone reject the gospel, and simply stay silent both in witnessing and in prayer.
B. During a difficult time, when it seemed like they were going to die, Jesus rested physically and spiritually in the Father’s sovereignty.
C. We need to have faith enough to rest.
