OPEN

What a wonderful opportunity we have to come around communion to remember the work of Jesus in our lives!

POV

Today we will be talking about God’s Adoption of us.

WIIFM

You will have a better understanding of what it means to be adopted by God.

INSTRUCTION

Today we will be talking out of Romans 8.14-17
See in the first century when Romans was written,
Adoption was a common practise among the Roman Society.
This is the context that Paul writes these words:
Romans 8:14–17 NASB95
14 For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.
See this is full adoption, there is no such thing as partial adoption! Co-Heirs with Christ! No matter our station, status, or position. We are offered full adoption.

SO WHAT STORY

So what does this have to do with us today? Well, we know that one way for us to understand a Spiritual truth is to experience it in the Natural.
That is what happened to me.
I was adopted, not just one, but many families picked me up and called me their Son. Soon I was found in family photos and at family dinners that were not my own, but they were. We are talking full fridge access guys.
They held nothing back from me, in that context, they were able to speak life and correction into me. They mentored me, They gave me life and Vision.
Church, we can do the same thing, in fact God as we have read, has given us the blueprint for doing it.
With the state of families and the youth they are crying for people to take them in and love them, to adopt them just as we have been adopted by Christ! To extend a loving enduring committed relationship to those who need it most!

POV

We are talking as Communion as remembrance of Christ’s work in Adopting us

WIIFM

We have talked about what it means to be adopted by Christ.

ACTION

Therefore, we remember that we are never given something just so that it would end with us but in us would grow and outpour to others!
So, church I want you to go home and think about the people in your life who could use your adoption and then go and invest with that person!
If you don’t have anyone, ask God for someone!

CLOSE

Prayer of Thanksgiving for adoption and inheritance.

ALTAR CALL
