Sermon Tone Analysis

As Followers of Christ we are to be a Real Witness.

We all have family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, who do not know the Lord.

These people may not be reached any other way than by our personal witness.

In our relationships with these people, it is vital that we lovingly speak to them about salvation and their need for Christ.

In addition to witnessing to our own circle of family, friends, and acquaintances, we want to develop a passion with our church family for the lost all around our community.

The mandate to lead people to the Lord and disciple them was given to the church.

It is the responsibility of the local church to share the Gospel not only with the community but the entire world through supporting missions.

Mark 16:15 (NKJV)

15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature .

The church in Philippi was commited to this purpose.

As Paul wrote to thank them for their financial support to his work, he said they were one of the earliest churches to understand the concept of giving to missionaries.

The giving of Philippian Christians enabled Paul to take the Gospel to places those Christians could never go.

Because reaching the lost with the Gospel is a primary purpose of the local church, it is vital that each of us develop a passion to be personally involved in sharing the Gospel - with those we know personally, with our church family, and through our missions program.

Charles Spurgeon said, “The man who is all aglow with love to Jesus finds little need for amusement.

He has no time for trifling.

He is in dead earnest to save souls and establish the truth and enlarge the kingdom of his Lord.”

Conclusion:

The church is not a mere social gathering.

It is an institution created by Christ with eternal purpose.

First and foremost, our purpose is to love God.

Our love for Him begins at salvation and is expressed through identifying with Him in baptism and worshipping Him.

Second, our purpose is to grow together.

This entails becoming rooted in bible doctrine and growing in fellowship with one another.

And finally, our purpose is to serve others.

We are to minister to the needs of one another in the church, and we are to share the Gospel of Christ with those who are lost.

Take a moment to evaluate how effectively you are personally contributing to fulfilling the purpose of this church.

Have you been saved?

If so have you been baptized?

Have you chosen to identify with this local body through membership?

Are you worshipping God? Are you growing in faith?

Are you availing yourself to opportunities to hear God’s Word taught and to share in Christian fellowship?

Are you serving?

Do you have a place of service in the church?

Are you sharing the Gospel with the lost?

God’s purpose for your life dovetails with His purpose for the church.

IT IS AN EXCITING, FULFILLING LIFE WHEN YOU INVEST YOURSELF INTO REALLY FULFILLING THE PURPOSE OF YOUR LOCAL CHURCH!
