Text Mt. 6:19-21; 24; 33

Funerals remind us of the frailty of life.
Heb. 9:27 “And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment,”
Ps 146:3-4Do not trust in princes, In mortal man, in whom there is no salvation. His spirit departs, he returns to the earth; In that very day his thoughts perish.”

This makes life precious

It makes what we do in this life all the more important.
Matt 16:26 “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?”
Jn 5:28-29 ““Do not marvel at this; for an hour is coming, in which all who are in the tombs will hear His voice, and will come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment.”
2 Cor 5:10-11For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade men, but we are made manifest to God; and I hope that we are made manifest also in your consciences.”

Texts

Where is your heart?

Matt 6:19-21 ““Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. “But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

APPL. Is your heart simply on the earthly things, material things and not on God?

Money, status, assets, image, etc.
Col 3:2 “Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.”

Who is your Master?

Matt 6:24 ““No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.”

APPL. Many times I haven’t realized that something else has become my master until other things go missing from my life.

E.g. no longer praying, worshipping, giving, helping, studying my bible

What are you seeking?

Matt 6:33 ““But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
APPL. You don’t need to worry when God has your back
God has a way of taking care of everything when you put Him first
You can do that by obeying the gospel and becoming saved TODAY
HEAR, BELIEVE, REPENT, CONFESS, BE BAPTIZED
