Celebrating Super Summer Slam this week and Herb his back.
He's going to make french fries for us again.
This year, right?
It's actually good.
We do have a couple of visitors with us today, so make sure you look around and say hello to everyone even Trish.
Unfortunately, do have to get back to home, unfortunately.
Otherwise we would have your French fries.
But we are excited.
This is our biggest Outreach Of The Year, actually.
And almost our biggest I think Fall Fest last year, pretty much tied with the number of people coming out.
And so we are looking forward to this week and then the upcoming events we do want to reach out to our community as we've been going through the book of Colossians.
We saw that our purpose here is to be proclaiming Christ in this world.
And the last thing that Jesus told his disciples before, he went back to the father was that we are supposed to be going and making disciples as we go and I'm teaching them and baptizing them in the name of the father Son and Holy Spirit.
And so that's what we want to be doing as a church family.
And and we do that we do it individually we have programs throughout the year but there are certain things that we do as a church family, where collectively, we work together to be sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with people that we normally don't have a chance to interact with and Super Summer, Slam is one of those weeks.
And again, we have about 100 tank kids sign up from the community about a third of those either, either from do Church, background or not Evangelical Church.
Backgrounds were not necessarily hearing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
So this is a great opportunity for the kids.
And then also for the parents, Friday night is key said, we have the ice cream social Friday evening.
We did this last year before we used to go back on Sundays and do.
Our service is Joe, Terry on Sunday and invite the families come back, and we had some families come back, but not as many.
So last year we tried going right at the end of Super Summer Slam and of course all the families pretty much stayed and so it worked out a whole lot better just to do it right.
At the end of SummerSlam, the families are already there getting their kids and then we have a chance to share with the family.
So we'll be doing that again, this year.
So we'll have SummerSlam all the way from 9 to 4. Like we do the other days on Friday but it for a special program for the families and invite all of them to hear, The kids been learning during the week and then share the gospel to families as well.
And so all of us have a role to play there as well.
Even if you're not in one of the yellow shirts helping out with the kids or in the week, you can be there at the ice cream social and talk interact with some of the families that are there.
Ask them you know what, their kids enjoyed about the weekend and learn about them and where do you live and do you have a go-to?
You can even invite them out to our church and this is a place where every single one of us can be involved and reaching out to the community, so I hope you will come out on Friday evening.
And again, we're going to be advertising our Fall Fest right now.
We have it.
Scheduled for October 29th and this is when we changed.
We used to have a trunk or treat, but it got too crowded and people are parking out on the hill which not exactly safe.
And so we move to Lackawanna State Park last year, we did it in the afternoon and we had a great turnout, even though it was a rainy day and we have a number of people come and they're like, wow you guys are serving food.
I heard everything else cuz we had the potato pancakes and soups, and french fries, and, and all kinds of other things.
And so will be doing that again this year.
And again, with word of mouth, as people come out and learn these things were hoping that this year, will have another opportunity because of the kids go through and get their candy.
We always have the last canopy where there listening and hearing the good news of Jesus Christ.
Last year Jen did it with a pumpkin in God, cleaning out all the bad stuff in and through faith in Christ that we are saved.
So it was a great Outreach and I already flipped it ahead.
How do I do that anyway, then in the fall we have something new that we're going to be doing this year.
And this one, I'm really excited about how many of you have ever heard of Walk Through the Bible.
Okay, we have a few of you to have anybody here.
Actually go through it.
Okay.
Few only a couple.
Walk Through the Bible is no relation it started years ago.
Actually, I went through this when I was a kid in the 70s.
Yes, that was a while ago.
But I still remember it.
Okay, stop laughing.
Stephen seriously.
Okay.
I still remember and they really do a good job and just a few hours taking all the way through the Old Testament where you hitting every single book of the Old Testament and learning.
What are the key elements of that book in the key story at how God has been at work.
All the way through the Bible, to restore people back to himself.
And it really is a great event.
It's full of kinesthetic learning and everything else, and I can't describe it quite well very well.
So what I did is I have a video.
So we're going to show you a little video to explain a little bit better.
What this is.
How many people don't read the Bible?
Because culturally is so different that it's confusing.
They don't have a context to understand.
What if we could create an event that could make the Bible, come alive in a fun and creative way that would inspire people to read it everyday.
When I heard about this at church, I said I have to go because I need Clarity.
Everything, starting to make more sense to me, is helping me to understand more people to a timeline.
To a bigger story, God's trying to reveal to his people, to be able to connect to these stories is huge seminar.
Like this is really great at weaving together.
The larger narrative for God story.
People can locate how the Old Testament connect with the New Testament.
Seeing how God's creation story moves leading up to Christ himself was very powerful.
I've always look at the Bible to sleep, so complicated.
I can't really read that language.
I don't phonetically truly understand it.
When it's done like this, when it comes to life, the hand size really resonate, it helps you to realize what's going on and what really happened?
It puts things into perspective.
As you're moving your remembering kinesthetic learning is a lot better than just auditory, or even visual learning.
So if using that movement actually see, Reconstituted, trying to get across the body for the mind.
And makes you remember even more King, David and King, Solomon, a part.
I like that to me.
It's very relevant for people at all stages of their walk with God.
I think it works for all ages with each other celebrating together and they're doing it from such different Generations.
As we teach OT live in nclive, we see people walk away with such a passion.
They don't just go home and it so well, that was nice.
They go home and they read and pastors.
Tell us about how their church is a change.
Their having this type of event.
The hope is that they're going to engage in scripture in a different way that they have a bigger picture.
It's wanting to understand that I could share with a non-believer, an overall picture of the Bible and how it all fits together.
I wasn't, I'm going to dig into the Old Testament more.
I learn more definitely can see that.
It's 1. 3 that God has written capture the Old Testament in 3 hours that went fast is awesome.
And my husband, I wasn't really impressed after seeing what I saw today.
I am so inspired, so encouraged to go in and dig deeper into my Bible.
Play, just what I have now of the whole Bible.
It literally was a walk through the Bible.
Walk Thru the Bible, it's what it's called, its what it is, and I'm excited because there's so many people that again, in the world are like, what is the Bible all about and in what's, what's all the stuff in the Old Testament?
Isn't God? Just a god of of like wrath and anger and Punishment.
I come in like a flood and everything else was wiping.
