And as we think about the Life of Christ were thinking about the rivers of Living Water, the rivers of Living Water. We did part 1 last week, talking about the special day, it was the Feast of booths. And all the people are gathered together for this special day and I've gathered back into the court of the women. It would seem the court of women was the place where women could go into the temple. But it was also a place where men could go only the men to go into the temple Court of the men and the women could not go in there. Now, the Gentiles, they could not go into the court of the women nor could they go any further into the temple. But now we're to the court of women. We're both male and female could discuss things. And so this is where Jesus is And there's a lot of discussion going on about who Jesus is. They've been talking about whether or not he's the Christ where he came from and all of that. And so are we find here that Jesus on seven occasions? I counted them, seven, occasions yelled, the top of his lungs and yell, you know, when the, when the Bible says he cried out, That word is different from the word cry, and it's different from the word shell. This one is a word that means he can yell. I mean, he yell, and it's usually about getting attention, calling attention to sell. And so, here it is on the last day of that Feast, the feast, we called Feast of booths for the Feast of Tabernacles. On the last day that great day of the feast Jesus stood and cried out everyone's talkin picture everybody talkin talk about who Jesus is and it's hard to get a word in edgewise and you want to be heard. And so Jesus, probably standing up on something, doesn't say that, I don't know the butt and how do you have any trying to get their attention? And it says, and Jesus stood and cried out he yelled. And I'll just read it the way it supposed to be red. if anyone thirst, Welcome to me. And Drake Hill Believes In Me as the scripture has said out of his heart will flow, rivers of Living Water.
Did you hear that?
That's what Jesus was talking about. He was talking about, he gives why he came to give life and the wind he was going to provide life, was through the message through the word that he would free. What we call that the gospel, he came and he preached the gospel, the good news, I'll be Turtle wife, the good news for each person who could understand how they could save themselves. From Eternal damnation. What has John continues and we leave the words of red that Jesus spoke John says, but this, he spoke concerning the spirit was believing in him would receive for the Holy Spirit was not yet. Given because Jesus was not yet glorified, And so we find here, the idea that Jesus is talking about something special that is going to happen. It has yet to happen because it's something concerning Jesus has yet to happen. That is he had yet to be glorified a little bit. Can we find here at the end of the New Testament, in Revelation, chapter 22, and the spirit and the bride, say come and let him that Harris. Say let's stop right there and just kind of decipher. What's just been said and the spirit and the bride say, how does the spirit say come Through the bride. Through the bride, who's the bride? The church. Paul tells us that it was the responsibility of the church in Ephesians chapter 3. Beginning of that, the church would Proclaim proclaim the gospel to the world. And so it is here at the Spirit through scripture through the church. Say come, that's the great invitation. We talked about an invitation, we always have an invitation at the end of the lesson, we have an invitation song as well and it's a. Of time where in someone might want to receive Jesus Christ and put him on in baptism. Well, since we're talking about that invitation right now If you desire to be baptized today, we can take the time and do that. Now, Right, we can hold off on the sermon. There are things that take precedence. But here it says, and the spirit and the bride, say come and let him that Harris. Harris. Who the spirit speaking through the church, Come let him that is athirst, come and who at who, so ever will let him take for the Water of Life freely for I testify on to every man that Harris the words of the prophecy. If any man show out onto these things, got your ad and under him, the plagues that are written in this book and a 30-minute, she'll take away from the words of the book of this prophecy. God, she'll take away his part out of the book of life and so the spirit and the bride say come and the Spirit by words. Invites mankind. And that's through the responsibility of the teaching of the church. Well, we think about the Great Commission, go into all the world and lose that 4 is that percentage is that for everybody outside of Christ to go and preach the gospel.
No, it's for God's children church. It's the church's responsibility to do the preaching. And and so each of us have that responsibility of sharing the gospel message of Jesus Christ with those about us. And that's the point of John. Chapter 7 verses 37 through 39. Jesus said there are Living Waters and it says they will come into you and they will go out of you. They will keep flowing and what you talking about. He's talking about, you're receiving a saving message of Grace.
You need to provide that saving message of Grace to others and thereby. You have a flowing river. You can't keep it to yourself. sometimes we do, we don't take the opportunity to share the gospel of Christ with others and so what happens is is we've been saved with that message and that message just stops We got ourselves a little Pond, a little Reservoir, a little Lake building up within us but he says it's got to be a river flowing. Would that life-giving water? And this is exactly the point. That is being stressed here at the end of The Book of Revelation, the idea, the spirit, and the bride say, come, Paul told Timothy the things that you have heard from me, teach to others who will be. Also to teach will be able to teach others also. I'm so therefore we find the idea of the Great Commission to keep on teaching when one could save, that's a person teaches. And when that save person teaches another and that person gets saved, that's a person keeps teaching. You see how that goes. But a lot of us turn inward. And they look at me. And I say you got to do that, you got to do that. You're the man responsible.
My responsibilities first is to equip the congregation for that very work. That's what it comes down to in Ephesians chapter 4, beginning of verse 11 and 12 but it is all our responsibility to save the Lost. Remember Jesus said I came to seek and save the Lost. He did that while on Earth. Everybody which means he doesn't go to everybody but he still seeks and he still saves a lost through you. Through me. That's how he seeks and saves the lost and what do we do? We give words of life, we call it the gospel. That's the gospel that message contains the words and so we're looking at the idea of Living Water and equals the word of God. 10 equals that which is received and Obey and it equals that which is taught to others and so we can't keep that message inside brother we have to share that message. What because we love souls do we love souls who here? Love souls Wheel Of The Lost Souls Don't look at the person's flesh. Don't look at the person's color of their flesh. You're looking at something beneath you're looking at someone who's going to spend eternity someplace. And you have the responsibility, the privilege of sharing the gospel with others so that they too. Can contain rivers of Living Water only to share it with others. And that is exactly what Jesus is talking about. Shelly go back to what we just quoted and the things that you have heard for me among many winners. Just commit. These two Faithful Men will be able to teach others also, that's the design. That's how we keep expanding. That's how we keep growing that is we share the message of Jesus Christ. It's interesting as we think about Ephesians chapter 4 says but to each one of us Grace was given according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Therefore, he says, when he is sending in high heel in captivity captive and gave gifts to men, now he's quoting from the Old Testament.
And so the gift of Christ equals the gifts of men. That is Christ would give the Ephesians and all other Christians especially in the first century miraculous gifts because he goes on to talk about and he gave some to be a possible and he gave some to be prophets and some of Angeles and some pastors and teachers. And so we find here, that's the point of which he is coming by. He's talking about. And those gifts were given by Christ through the spirit and the spirit work through those men to deliver a message. Yes. They confirm the message with Miracles but it's the message. It's the gospel that says, that's the power of God unto salvation, and I'm quoting from the Old Testament quotes from chapter 68. You have a send it on, you, let captivity captive. You have received gifts among man, even from the rebellious that the Lord God my
Shecaniah or Shekinah. However, you want to pronounce it. If you are a Hebrew expert, I'm no Hebrew expert. So I'll just say cuz I'll explain it that way Glory.
And dwell there. I said the glory of the Lord dwell in the temple, that's how God will literally blow.
The Shekinah 12 there. And so that dwelling idea has something to do with those gifts, has something to do with what Paul had quoted in Ephesians chapter 4, beginning of verse 8. And again that is connected to the miraculous aspect and we'll talk more about that as we go through the spirit. Did not come before. Jesus went back to Heaven. Spirit did not come before. Jesus went back to heaven, right? That's what we just read. Because he said this, he spoke of the spirit, which not had, which yet not. He had had been given because he had yet to be glorified. So, and when he said this, he breathed on them. You find this at the end of John, John 21:22, this would be in my estimation, we have Matthew's account of the Great Commission. We have Mark's account of the Great Commission, we have Luke's account of the Great Commission, all saying different things, and John And this is just before Pentecost. And so, he says, and he breathed on them and saith unto them receive, ye the Holy Spirit. Not now But you're going to you're going to but I have yet to be glorified. That's the idea and especially even though it's not mention there but that is mentioned elsewhere. So again but this spake he of the spirit which they that believe on him would receive for the Holy Spirit was not yet given because that Jesus was not yet glorified now, literally it says the those that believe on him, literally. It's the having believed one but having believed ones. That's interesting because it's era stents which is simple past tense. It's a an action that took place in the past, is the idea so that having believed ones are the ones under consideration. And that's the word from Lebanon. And then we have more about to receive pomelo. Pomelo that simply means, we're about to receive. So but this Spanky all the spirit, which the having believed ones, we're about to receive for the Holy Spirit, was not yet given because that Jesus was not yet glorified. So, there is a text. And so the idea of him LOL meeting its, at the point of coming about and you're sure to receive it. So, when Jesus says, repent for the kingdom of God is at hand, it's a mellow. It's at him, it's about to happen. And so it is here. It says, those having believed the having believed ones were about to receive. Now that I'm looking at this and I understand, then we have to suggest, well, who is the day that we are about to receive? Wasn't everybody that Jesus was speaking to or was it a particular group? That we can decipher. And it seems that since the confusion has taken place within the temple court, within the court of women that the people were arguing, whether it be the religious leaders or whether it be the everyday folk in the community. They were arguing about who Jesus was And many of them or rejecting him on the basis of some alleged and faulty claims. So who would then be receiving evidently Cycles are there with him his apostles And it seems that they would be the one to receive this and that's exactly what happened. On the day of Pentecost, they were baptized in the Holy Spirit and what does it say? And they began to speak in tongues and that is they began to preach. They began to preach in different languages because there were 17 different languages gathered there on the day of Pentecost in Jerusalem. And so the apostles are preaching to them in their own languages and that's exactly what the text says. How is it that we hear it each of those men speaking in our own language? How is that? It's a miracle. Dogs working working through the spirit through these men and they were preaching the gospel we call this, the first gospel sermon preached by Peter, but it wasn't just Peter preaching. It was the oppressed of the Apostles, preachers. Peter sermons, the ones that is the one that is recorded. However, So, Jesus is on the court of women, the religious leaders, and the people discussing the identity of Christ Jesus. Got their attention by yelling and referring to the apostles. This is referring to the Apostle since the crowd was not sure who he was at this point. It's kind of like Matthew chapter 3, where Jesus promises the back where I could John promises the baptism in the Holy Spirit, right? So he's talking to all the Jews who are going out to John, at the Jordan, to be baptized by John. And then all the sudden, the Sadducees in the Pharisees showed up and John turn to them and says, you brood of vipers who told you about the wrath of come that you may come to me. You brood of vipers. I love that expression. I wish I could say that to some people but that would be the wrong thing to say I suppose. But we find that later, John talks about that. He was, I baptized with water but he who is mightier than me who's coming after me he will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and in fire. And I believe that connotation is talking about the message that you were going to be baptized in summer. Going to accept the message that the spirit brings some or not. And they'll be baptized now with the spirit but with fire much like the Sadducees and Pharisees. Who had no idea that they needed to flee from the wrath of God and saw the pastor's there for points to Pentecost and Pentecost occurs after his Ascension. So the whole point is that Jesus would be glorified before the coming of the spirit and the Spirit came on Pentecost. And so when you look back at chapter 1 of the book of Acts and verses 9 through 11, we find the Ascension of Jesus that he goes back to the Father in heaven and he sits at the right hand of the father of majesty on her and guess what he begins to rule. He begins to rule and therefore he is now glorified. And after his glorification the Spirit came on the day of Pentecost. So we read that again. But this spake, he of the spirit which the Believing on him ones were about to receive for the spirit was given because Jesus was not yet glorified. Christ, Glory would be equal to the glory he had before when he came to Earth and we read about that. John 17. He says this is Jesus in John 13:14, John, 15 and John 16 verse is in the upper room with his apostles. And as he offers up and institutes, the Lord's, Supper Judas has left the building. Judas has gone away to do his thing. There are eleven, Apostles, Renee, and now we find what's called The Upper Room discourse where Jesus is getting those eleven Apostles ready for their Commission. And he's telling them that he's going away but I won't leave you as orphans. I will send you another comforter and he shall guide you into all truth. So the context is dealing with Jesus and the apostles. Now after this discourse takes place, we read about in the other accounts as well, where Jesus had gone to the Garden to pray. And he told three of his disciples, his apostles, who went with him, stay awake. While I pray, and when he came back to the apostles, what were they doing?
Like some of us in church, right? So that happens three times. So this is the prayer Jesus was in The Garden of Gethsemane. And this is the prayer that John record, these things, fake Jesus and lifting up his eyes to Heaven. Hope there's another prayer posture, by the way. You don't necessarily have to close your eyes and bow. Your head. Jesus is opening his eyes looking up to heaven, but now the event, he says, father be ours is come glorify, thy son, and the son that glorified the even as thou gavest, him authority over All Flesh that to all whom thou has given him, he should give eternal life in this life eternal that they should know these. The only true God and hands, without did send even Jesus Christ, I glorify all the Earth, having accomplished the work, which dial has given me to do. And now, father, glorify, thou me with thine own self with the glory, which I had with v before the world was It's amazing passage because it tells us about the deity of Christ tells us that Jesus is God. And God became flesh and we know that man as Jesus Christ the second person of the godhead. And so they share this Glory they had in heaven. And now Jesus has ascended back to where he was originally and the glory. Can you imagine the glory? Can you imagine the singing of the angels in heaven as he takes his strong? And so amazing passage, he sent the spirit the apostles and he would do, he would send them another another comforter, he would guide them to all truth and the spirit through them would convicted world of sin of righteousness and judgment. Been through the word saw, the Ascension was a return to the glory that he had before his life on Earth. And that close without chapter 7 and now I thought I would have time to do chapter 8. We don't have time to do chapter 8, but I do want to deal with that one verse. John 8:12, I am the light of the world he who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life. So we find here In John chapter 4 beginning of verse 10, we find here that the Samaritan woman meets Jesus at the well, actually, Jesus meets The Samaritan woman at the well Jesus is already at the well and the woman comes to draw water and they're having a discussion about the living water. And Jesus says, if you knew the gift of God and who it is, that asked you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water notice. He doesn't say, I am living water. He says, I would give you living water. And she would receive it and she would never thirst again. so the Living Water once again represents the words that Jesus would give Remember Jesus said the word that I have spoken unto you, the same will judge you. In the last day, John chapter 12 and verse 48. The rivers of Living Water or the Water of Life Christ came to give life. But he preached, that he preached life, God draws all men. But he draws all those who come and follow the teaching, John chapter 6, verses 44, and 45. So it's through the word through the preaching of the Gospel message. Jesus said, the words I speak to you they are spirit and they are life life-giving words, Jesus, just before that, John 5:24 says the words that you hear me. Preach. well, if you believe you will have passed from Death unto life, life-giving words, he hears my words and believes has passed from Death to life and then of course, you remember, Peter, Peter, when we were reading it in John, chapter, 6, and 7, and all the people run away, All I love Jesus up to a point. They follow Jesus up to a point, they serve Jesus up to a point. But when that point came, They were out of there. So Jesus turns to his Apostles and says, will you go with them too? And Peter stood up, like he always does for the rest of the Apostles and he says Where would we go for? You have the words of life. Words of life. The waters, the running Water of Life, the rivers of Living Water. This is the message of Jesus Christ. This is the message you and I need to share the keep that river flowing to The Souls of this world. If you're here today and you believe that Jesus is the Christ, the son of God, And you know that you are insane. You need forgiveness of sins. Jesus provides that remedy he that believes and is baptized shall be saved. You can do that today. You can do it.
And be assured of your salvation today. Perhaps you've done that, but perhaps that light. remember the word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path, the word, the words of life that give us illumination They give us direction, directions home directions to the father through Jesus Christ. And Jesus says, if you follow me but you fall in a way, you've walked off that, come back through repentance. And if you're subject to that invitation today, won't you come forward as together? We stand
