Philippians 4:1–7 KJV (WS)
Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved. I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord. And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life. Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Some People Our Church Could Not Do Without
INTRODUCTION:
Paul organized many churches. Some disappointed him — some pleased him. Seems one at Philippi was his favorite. He said, “This church was his crown and joy.” We have some people like Philippian Christians who are a crown and joy to a church and pastor. A church could not get along without some. Who are they????
I. THE FAITHFUL FOLKS
A. The Bible does not commend for greatness:
B. It does for faithfulness
1. Faithful in praying,
2. Faithful in giving.
3. Faithful in living,
4. Faithful in serving.
II. THE WILLING FOLKS
A. Some people are willing to do church work.
B. Others are willing for them to do it.
1. It’s easy for some to meet at the club meetings but not at church too busy.
2. Easy to talk about what we will do in the future, what about the present?
III. THE FOLKS WITH A VISION
A. A vision of local needs, (looks beyond dollars).
B. A vision of world wide needs (If missions were left to some, the world would be lost forever).
1. The Bible says, “Without a vision the people perish.
IV. THE OPTIMISTIC FOLKS
1. Report of spies in Israel’s camp.
2. Somebody said it couldn’t be done.
3. God and one man a majority.
V. THE FOLKS THAT ARE NOT LAZY
A. God never uses lazy folks. (Moses, Noah, Paul).
B. Had these been lazy we would never have heard of them .
C. The church has received a command and a commission.
D. Industrious people are needed.
VI. THE FOLKS WHO ARE BOOSTERS
A. You like the church, tell others about it.
B. If you knock the church, you are a part of it.
1. We need BOOSTERS not BOASTERS.
VII. THE LIBERAL FOLKS
A. Stingy folks never build a church and do little good in the world.
B. If churches were left to them they would be satisfied with a poorly lighted one room building.
