TITLE: THE OTHER SIDE (1 SAMUEL 24:1-15;20)
Doors= opportunity; access; transition
All throughout life, there’s going to be doors presented to you for you to go into your next.
Life is a series of doors (restating PBC as a reminder for the setup of our conversation)
There will be times where sets of doors will be presented..
Heaven sent
Hell sent (Flesh fulfilling doors)
(i.e.
Doors of deliverance | Doors of distraction
Doors of promotion | Doors of imprisonment
If your frontal lobe ( the headquarters of your decision making and attention span) isn’t fertilized by the Word of God, you will make decisions based upon your own intellect.
Your intellect may impress them but smell like infection to HIM. (pride; puffed up)
Isaiah 55:8-9 : His ways are Not our ways & His thoughts are not our thoughts.
Proverbs 14:12 : What you think is right may be led by deception or YOUR FLESH!
When your decisions have been discipled in the depth of the Word of God, you develop the mind of Christ.
Philippians 2:5
What is it to have the mind of Christ?
Jesus(being His name) Christ (Being His character) knew exactly what doors to open and WHEN to access those doors.
Just because you have access doesn’t mean its time to walk through.
Every open door isn’t an invitation from Heaven!
Jesus in Matt.4 had the access to turn those stones into bread but He knew it wasn’t time for Him to access that door!
I WILL NOT BE TEMPTED OUT OF MY TIMING!
Just because we declared this is the season of the Open Door, doesn’t mean every door that’s open is yours to access.
ARE YOU WILLING TO WAIT UNTIL ITS TIME?
John 2:4 - Mary walked upon Jesus and asked Him to turn the water into wine but Jesus understood his timing!
That was a door that was open for Jesus to reveal Himself but He understood not only the assignment but His Timing!
It does no good to only understanding the assignment without understanding the TIMING of the assignment.
When you understand the assignment without having the awareness of your timing, you will run the risk of doing an assignment From God, Outside of His Will!
BE PATIENT!
Jesus understood the importance of Timing because He understood the Power of Submission.
Jesus had the discipline and the discerning of Spirits to know which door had been discipled by devils..
I know that sounds comical for a door to be discipled by devils..(Look into the religious traps people set for jesus and the doors discipled by devils)
When you develop the Mind of Christ, you develop the Character of Christ!
Some doors will look the same on the outside (appearance)
(This is where many of us struggle)
Because in this day and age we long for all types of doors, without considering what’s on the other side.
(As long as the stage is big, the lights are on, and people are watching, and the MONEY IS RIGHT)
Many things can play apart in this.. Rejection, Abandonment, pain, LUST! (LONGING FOR DOORS THAT ISN’T LINED UP WITH YOUR DESTINY.
Just because a door showed up to you doesn’t mean it showed up FOR YOU.
So doors are on an assignment AFTER YOU, to lock you in one space to keep you STAGNANT AND COMPLACENT.
Before you open another door, ask yourself “WHERE AM I?”
its possible for you to approach doors out of your own desires and self will..
Those doors open up to destruction not destiny.
Now i know its close to Christmas time and everyone is about to start decorating doors but the warning is this don’t entertain anymore decorated doors that you don’t know what’s on the other side of them.
Some of these doors are TRAPS!
If you’re not careful, you will allow decorated doors to talk you out of destiny and distract you right into a dungeon(PRISON)!
SOME DOORS LOOK THE SAME BUT WHAT’S ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DOOR IS WHAT SETS THE DOOR APART!
Prayer and the Word of God is the way to highlight which door has the future that God promised on the other side and which door has the prison of hell waiting to ensure you.
To go a little further in our conversation.. in 2 Corinthians 11:1-15, Paul begins to tell the church in Corinth about false Apostles.
He’s telling a people about those that present doors that are bathed in deception.
DOORS
*Give an overview of the story of David and Saul -or- an overview of the 1 Samuel 24*
David finds himself at two doors with his homeboys behind him.
His homeboys are rooting for him to go through one door and using a word that He received previously to push him through this door.
(DOOR OF REVENGE)
David goes through and as he cuts off the corner of Saul’s robe, David’s conscious turned..
This is still OT so the HOLY SPIRIT couldn’t dwell within just yet because Jesus had not come yet to be settle the debt of sin and to wash us clean with his blood!
So God began to turn the gage of David’s conscious to get His attention.
Are you more committed to the suggestions of your circle than your convictions?
Are you more committed to what seems popular and fair or are you committed to what’s right in the eyes of God?
The way David Got OUT of that door was by repentance.
(HE TURNED AWAY FROM SAUL AND RESTRAINED HIS MEN)
David walked back out of the door, through repentance, and He walked in through the right door With HONOR.
David’s future success as King was riding on which door he walked through with Saul.
It matters how you open and close doors..
Both should be handled with Honor and Humility.
Many of you may have felt like you’ve walked through some doors that weren’t destined for you, it’s not too late to make it right.
Repent now.
