Luke 22:31–34 (NASB95)
31 “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat; 32 but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.” 33 But he said to Him, “Lord, with You I am ready to go both to prison and to death!” 34 And He said, “I say to you, Peter, the rooster will not crow today until you have denied three times that you know Me.”
I heard a preacher once say, “it better to learn from wisdom than experience.”
I am so thankful that God has never been surprised or taken off guard by our malevolent behavior.
For example if i had a friend, one who i as very close to and i was able to look into the future and i saw that they would one day betray me. i might immediately break off that friendship and no longer associate myself with that person.
God not only remains in relationship with Peter, He prays for him.
not that Peter would be perfect but that the imperfections would be used to Strength others.
not only is God not surprised by our sins, but he is also proactive.
He already has done something about it.
Revelation 13:8 (KJV 1900)
8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
The Lamb was slain from the foundation of the world.
Foundation is the Greek word, katabolē meaning creation (of the world), the beginning, spoken of as a “foundation.”
Upon the creation of the World God knew that man would sin, so before there was a problem God already had a solution.
Yes, Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat but I’ve already prayed for you.
The lamb has already been slain.
The devil would try to use our weakness, to diminish our confidence.
He knows if he destroys your confidence he can silent you and diminish you impacted.
He does have to kill to stop you from changing the World.
That why Paul says,
Romans 8:1 NASB95
1 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
And for them there is therefore now no Condemnation.
The enemy is trying to bring Condemnation into the mind about things that where done many years ago, feller, loses, pain, breakup, mistakes, sin, abandonment, and regrets.
He is trying to sift you like wheat.
look how weak you are
look how phony you are
You aint noting…
But Jesus says, I have prayed for you.
I know your weakness.. i know you trauma, i know your pain..
and thats why i am praying..
THe devil demands permission.
THe Greeks for ask here is exaiteō to ask
Revelation 12:10 (NASB95)
10 ..... for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, he who accuses them before our God day and night.
Remind me of Job
Job 2:1–3 NASB95
1 Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them to present himself before the Lord. 2 The Lord said to Satan, “Where have you come from?” Then Satan answered the Lord and said, “From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it.” 3 The Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man fearing God and turning away from evil. And he still holds fast his integrity, although you incited Me against him to ruin him without cause.”
And on the day of accountability when all the angle has to present themselves to God and account for what they have been doing.
God says he devil have you consider my servant Job!!!
What is interesting to me is that if was God that did the suggesting.
Now why would God suggest Job?
This God know the end from the beginning and he knows he is about to get some some glory
Not only does God do the suggest He also does the affirming.
Hast thou considered my servant Job,
1. that there is none like him in the earth,
2. a perfect
3. and an upright man,
4. one that feareth God,
5. turns away evil
6. he holds fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.
God already from the beginning guarantees victory.
Job will not lose his integrity, though you move me again him without a cause
Peter, I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you will turn again
Listen you will win.. so you don’t have to wait to the battle is over to raise a praise you can do it in advance.
I will hold fast my integrity!! You will turn back again
Look at yo neighbor and say aint no body gone make my lose my integrity!!!
i may fall down, but i will get back up again...
Though he slay me yet shall I trust him.
I hear the lord affirming me.
I have pray for you.. and God always gets what he prayed for
you will not lose your integrity and God is not a man that he should lie..
When once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.”
You might have thought you fail.
But God can turn you failures into lessons
you thought you where weak but God can turn your weaknesses to strength.
he turns our mourning into dancing.
All those tears He about to use to help somebody.
Strengthen your brothers.
Revelation 12:11 NASB95
11 “And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death.
Tell your story…
Yes, i was prodical and ended up in the pig pin, but im back
im back, im back....
Where is my older brother i have to tell him how good the father is. .
The devil went after Job Smote him with boil…
He find himself outside of the city sitting on a dung heap scratching..
He lost his children, he got boils everywhere now he sitting on a ding heap.
It’s a crappy day.
Jobs wife come and says Job “Do you still hold fast your integrity? Curse God and die!”
Job says Job 2:10
Job 2:10 NASB95
10 But he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept good from God and not accept adversity?” In all this Job did not sin with his lips.
God said Job would hold on and he did..
God said about peter.. you are going to mess us
Jesus said Peter, the rooster will not crow today until you have denied three times that you know Me.”
You will mess us, but you’ll be back....
and when you come back Strength your brother.
So peter denied Jesus and he cursed…
But Jesus came to Peter and then Peter came back to Jesus
and it was Peter who stood up on the day of Pentecost to participate in the birthing of the church
