Joshua 2:8–9 (NASB95)
8 Now before they lay down, she came up to them on the roof,
9 and said to the men, “I know that the Lord has given you the land, and that the terror of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land have melted away before you.
SLIDE 6
Joshua 2:10 (NASB95)
10 “For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea before you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon and Og, whom you utterly destroyed.
SLIDE 7
Joshua 2:11 (NASB95)
11 “When we heard it, our hearts melted and no courage remained in any man any longer because of you; for the Lord your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth beneath.
SLIDE 8
Hebrews 11:32 (NASB95)
32 And what more shall I say? For time will fail me if I tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets,
SLIDE 9
Hebrews 11:33–34 (NASB95)
33 who by faith conquered kingdoms, performed acts of righteousness, obtained promises, shut the mouths of lions,
34 quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight.
Have you felt like you may have faltered in your faith
Let’s look at that biblical definition
SLIDE 10
Falter (Hitpael)
progresses in this order (Bible Sense Lexicon)
to grow slack - to wait - to hesitate - to waver - to stop
Tonight as we look at two individuals we will be encouraged and as we leave here tonight encouraged even more
the stories of Gideon and Barak are incredible faith builders, maybe better defined at steps of growing faith............but continue to take those steps
SLIDE 11
GIDEON & BARAK
*example steps of growing faith*
*key -continue to take those steps in our faith*
So I struggle a little with this description tonight if I were to say Gideon and Barak “faith faltering”
But if this is to help us and we falter in our faith then I think is a safe description
Other Bible program Judges 6
Judges 7 and Judges 8 then Judges 4 and 5
then Psalm 83 and then Isaiah 9
SLIDE 12
Matthew 25:14–15 (NASB95)
14 “For it is just like a man about to go on a journey, who called his own slaves and entrusted his possessions to them.
15 “To one he gave five talents, to another, two, and to another, one, each according to his own ability; and he went on his journey.
SLIDE 13
Matthew 25:16–17 (NASB95)
16 “Immediately the one who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and gained five more talents.
17 “In the same manner the one who had received the two talents gained two more.
SLIDE 14
Matthew 25:18–19 (NASB95)
18 “But he who received the one talent went away, and dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.
19 “Now after a long time the master of those slaves came and settled accounts with them.
SLIDE 15
Matthew 25:20–21 (NASB95)
20 “The one who had received the five talents came up and brought five more talents, saying, ‘Master, you entrusted five talents to me. See, I have gained five more talents.’
21 “His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.’
SLIDE 12
