Prophet for Profit

Balaam can be considered a prophet for profit .

Balaam was a man driven by money

Balaam was very well know so much so a King name Balak went 400 miles to find him

Balaam is called a Phophet , seer and a sorcerer

King Balak spoke highly about him saying .

Numbers 22:6 “Therefore please come at once, curse this people for me, for they are too mighty for me. Perhaps I shall be able to defeat them and drive them out of the land, for I know that he whom you bless is blessed, and he whom you curse is cursed.””

King Balak was willing to give Balaam anything he wanted if he would just curse Israel .

He had a blank check book waiting for him.

Numbers 22:17 “for I will certainly honor you greatly, and I will do whatever you say to me. Therefore please come, curse this people for me.’ ””

Numbers 22:20-22 “And God came to Balaam at night and said to him, “If the men come to call you, rise and go with them; but only the word which I speak to you—that you shall do.” So Balaam rose in the morning, saddled his donkey, and went with the princes of Moab. Then God’s anger was aroused because he went, and the Angel of the Lord took His stand in the way as an adversary against him. And he was riding on his donkey, and his two servants were with him.”

God already gave Balaam the green light to go with Balaks men but He became angry .

God became angry because Balaam was going with a hidden motives secret intentions

2 Peter 2:15 “They have forsaken the right way and gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;”

Numbers 23:19 ““God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”

… Let God be true and every man a lair . Romans 4:2

- There is many spectrums to Gods truth .

First, God is factual truth , Ex 34:6 God proclaims His truth to Moses , Jesus Proclaims He’s true in front of the disciples right before His death as words of comfort John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Secondly , He is true in the sense of being reliable and dependable as in the phrase “ a true friend “.

God no longer calls us servants but friends

He is trust worthy

Thirdly , God is metaphysically true . Theres no other God besides our God .All other Gods are counterfeit and false .

Christ challenge each and every man and said that He is the way the truth and the life .

So as we give let us give in worship . Which is in the Spirit and in truth

Gods truth is established in heaven Psalm 89:1-2

Gods truth has come to all humanity
