Introduction: Where are all the teenagers? MANY OF THEM ARE TO BUSY FOR GOD!! The best way for Satan to attack the family is by getting the family too busy for God, with all the worlds many activities, we can put things over God which becomes idols in our lives. Think about all the activates our youth get involved in? Illustration As parents we are always living our lives as a living sacrifice, not only for ourselves but setting the example to our children.
Thesis: The children of Israel were continuing to fail at raising their youth up in the nourishment of the Lord which led to apostacy; As Christians we are to raise up our children in the nourishment of the Lord so they will not depart from the faith.
1. Choices the Children of Israel were making (Joshua 24:14,15,23).
a. Joshua tells the children of Israel they need to make a choice.
b. MY House His family not conformed
c. They had sin, idolatry in the camp.
d. What example are we leaving our children?
e. Is God our top priority?
2. Commanded to teach youth (Deuteronomy 6:6-9).
a. Why were the children of Israel always falling into idolatry?
b. They were supposed to be teaching their children all the time.
3. Results of failing to train youth (Judges 2:10-12).
a. What happened one generation after Joshua passed away?
b. They knew not God or His works.
c. This can still happen to us today; we are only one generation from apostacy.
Conclusion: The children of Israel were constantly making the wrong choice of not raising their youth up with a proper foundation in the Lord. We must always be planting and watering the seed of God in them so they are so rooted they cannot be removed from the faith very easily.
Prayer, living sacrifice, fern ant in Spirit, we are the blueprint.
