John 8:32-36 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever. If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
During this time of the year much bragging and fuss is made about freedom. It is good that we love freedom, however we do not understand freedom. Freedom is another one of those words that has become defined by man and usually lived out in a physical sense, never in the spiritual.
We have issues will spiritual stuff don’t bother us with eternal things let us live now. that is the mentality of much of the world today.
Simply, because we have the freedom to make choices and freedom to do whatever we want, we associate that with liberty.
Till we have subjected ourselves to Christ we are not fee, but bound.
True freedom comes from the Cross!
Man who was created free in the beginning, was truly free. He was free to partake of anything in the Garden, but the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.
When man broke the rules we became a debtor or a slave or in bondage to sin; in giving liberty back to man Christ had to die a horrible cruel death on the Cross to purchase our freedom.
Remember a few months ago when we learned to receive the glory, we must look upon the gory.
Isaiah 52:14 “Just as many were astonished at you, So His visage was marred more than any man, And His form more than the sons of men;”
Isaiah 53:5 “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”
We will not appreciate liberty till we see the cost and the cost was the Loving Son of God leaving the splendor of heaven coming to this world and taking the beating and abuse that this world offers so that the likes of you and I could know the joy of walking in freedom.
Isaiah 52:7-10 “How beautiful upon the mountains Are the feet of him who brings good news, Who proclaims peace, Who brings glad tidings of good things, Who proclaims salvation, Who says to Zion, “Your God reigns!” Your watchmen shall lift up their voices, With their voices they shall sing together; For they shall see eye to eye When the Lord brings back Zion. Break forth into joy, sing together, You waste places of Jerusalem! For the Lord has comforted His people, He has redeemed Jerusalem. The Lord has made bare His holy arm In the eyes of all the nations; And all the ends of the earth shall see The salvation of our God.”
Ps.126:1-6 “When the Lord brought back the captivity of Zion, We were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter, And our tongue with singing. Then they said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.” The Lord has done great things for us, And we are glad. Bring back our captivity, O Lord, As the streams in the South. Those who sow in tears Shall reap in joy. He who continually goes forth weeping, Bearing seed for sowing, Shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, Bringing his sheaves with him.”
So we should have a reason to shout and rejoice, but today i don’t see a lot of Christians rejoicing, I don’t hear a lot of Christians singing and shouting if we are free, then let us act free.
Truly if we have been liberated from the Law of ‘Sin and death, if the chains of bondage has been burst asunder and Jesus has said rejoice, because your names are written in the Lambs Book of Life then where is our song.
in Ps. 137 the people couldn’t sing, because of their oppression, but when liberated in Ps. 126 their mouth were full of rejoicing who but God could have pulled this off, who but a great king could have done so much for His people.
As Isaiah said in verse 10 of Is. 52 ‘The LORD made bare His Holy arm… if i may paraphrase this, this morning God said ok sin you have struck hard at My people, but you haven’t won yet hold on till you see what I’m about to do; then you come to John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Galatians 4:4-6 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
Jesus appears on the scene and for 33 yrs. He preaches the liberty of the Gospel and then He dies on the cross crying out it is finished and at that moment in time the sins of mankind were covered by the blood of the crucified Lamb and man walked out of the chains of bondage.
The story of the missionary who wanted to see the Mt. Everest.
It’s bigger than you think!
the guide adjusted his vision and said don’t look out, but look up.
when we allow the Guide, Who is the Holy Ghost, He will adjust our vision to see God is bigger than our bondages.
Then we will truly say with authoriTy, where the Spirit of the LORD is there is liberty.
Romans 8:12-14 “Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.”
