Just as the book of Jonah will have us to rejoice in the steadfast love and compassion of the Lord, so it also seeks to instill a right fear of the Lord within our hearts. In this passage, we see how God works to bless us with a right fear of him, exposing us to the power of his majesty, revealing the impotence of lesser saviors, and saving those who are perishing.
