The Devil Is After You

Jeremiah 5:6

(read vs.1-5 as intro to v.6)

Backsliding - reverting to sin and wrongdoing

Three different PEOPLE are after the backslider. When a Christian gets away from God they can expect to be taken down by these PEOPLE.

I. The Devil as a Lion.

This is the Devil roaring and seeking

“a lion out of the forest” - seeks whom he may devour; the devil

1 Peter 5:8 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

1. Be “sober”

not on liquor, beer, wine, pills, crack, or pot

2. Be “vigilant”

on guard. In prayer, the Bible.

3. The tactics of the Devil:

He is an adversary

He makes noise (partying, dancing, fear)

He moves slowly - “walketh”

He looks for people just like you!

Conclusion:

How do we defeat the Devil?

Submission to Christ.

Subjection to Christ.

Sanctification to Christ.
