The Life of Emptiness – “Anxious Achieving” 2. The Life of The Beloved – “Restful Receiving” 3. An Enigma 4. The Answer Ecclesiastes 1 2-3 “Everything is meaningless,” says the Teacher, “completely meaningless!” What do people get for all their hard work under the sun? 12-14 I, the Teacher, was king of Israel, and I lived in Jerusalem. I devoted myself to search for understanding and to explore by wisdom everything being done under heaven. I soon discovered that God has dealt a tragic existence to the human race. I observed everything going on under the sun, and really, it is all meaningless—like chasing the wind. “We suffer from digiphrenia – a term coined to describe how technology “encourages us to be in more than one place at the same time.” And it’s not working. In our effort not to miss anything, we often miss everything. We rise early, log in, caffeinate and multitask all day long. Sometime near the end of the cycle, we feel exhausted, but our minds don’t shut down. Thank the good Lord for sleep aids. A few years back, Peter and I (Greg) were traveling together to a conference in Altanta. We stopped at a grocery store before checking into our hotel because I had forgotten my “meds.” I quickly found them: a six-pack of 5-Hour Energy and a bottle of Tylenol PM. Before ringing me up, the clerk just looked at me sympathetically.” - Peter Greer & Greg Lafferty Psalm 127 1. The Life of Emptiness – “Anxious Achieving” 2. The Answer Chosen Blessed Broken Given Matthew 11:2530 At that time Jesus prayed this prayer: “O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike. Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way! “My Father has entrusted everything to me. No one truly knows the Son except the Father, and no one truly knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.” Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle Psalm 127 1. The Life of Emptiness – “Anxious Achieving” 2. The Life of The Beloved – “Restful Receiving” 3. An Enigma 4.
