Building off of his first two treatments of this vital subject, the author gives us three reasons why loving the brethren is the Litmus Test of regeneration. John describes love’s motivation, love’s model, and love’s mimicking. This understanding of love becomes the foundation of any healthy church, and the course by which all true children of God are to both mark and measure their progress. I.
