“Is God a communist or a capitalist?” It shouldn’t surprise us to hear that the answer to that question is: neither. God cannot be defined by such narrow and imperfect systems. But that doesn’t mean He doesn’t care about economics, or the financial state of his people. In fact, he cares a lot. In Leviticus 25 and 27, we discover some fascinating economic principles, which seem radical and revolutionary to our current society, but which reveal some deep theological truths for all Christians to follow. This is an incredibly important area for the church to show its holiness and separation, not trusting in the accumulation, status and security of wealth, but in the God who owns everything and provides all we need, graciously and generously.
