Intro and Tension
If we are to see God move in our region, If we are to see lives saved, if we are to see people set free, If we are to see Jesus in our community changing lives - then I believe this message is one of the most important that I preach as your Pastor and it’s also one that is difficult to believe about yourselves. I want to invite you to open your heart, be ready to recieve from God.
New Message Series | The Body - We are spiritual contributors, not spiritual consumers | Over 5 weeks, we are going to look at what it means to be God’s people | Last week we said “You’re Invited” - Spoke about the prostitute, who came to Jesus, and what changed her was an invitation - Make no mistake, you are INVITED To partake in God’s work in this region.
This week what I hope you’ll understand: You’re Valuable to God’s Work.
Jesus told a parable - 99 sheep, went after the 1 - that valuable. (link it to my watch)
If I have 7 kids and I lose one, I don’t just say that I have 6 more, oh well.
You are valuable just because you are a child of God | Valuable to God - Just because you’re you - But not just because of your identity | Becuase you were created for a purpose to be God’s Church and be a part of God’s Church | Reason why this message is difficult for some people is we have elevated stage ministry | Compare to everyone else | Not talented enough, smart enough, spiriitual enough to make a difference |
the Lie that most people believe; if I wasn’t here - it wouldn’t matter | It wouldn’t make a difference | My prayer is that you will know that you are valuable to God’s work - When God created you - put you in this moment in history because you are valuable to God’s work
For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
My frame was not hidden from you,
when I was being made in secret,
intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them,
the days that were formed for me,
when as yet there was none of them.
from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

Single = One name, one identity = Christian, Disciple
What do you call group of christians | Gathered together | Empowered by HIS spirit | God calls it = Body of Christ.
On you’re own = Just a disciple. Together = Part of something, attached to something ,you actually take on a new identity - The Body of Christ.
knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.
Bought with a price - attached to something that matters.
You are a vauable part of the Body of Christ - What I hope you’ll understand and embrace - Every part of body matters |
It’s almost as if, Bible is everlasting, God Knew, how we would feel.
For the body does not consist of one member but of many. If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body.
So often we think, our part does not matter | Ear might get jealous of the EYE | All attention on Eye, ear gets nothing. No one glares longingly into someones ear | The hills didn’t have ears | The apple of my EAR | The Ear could say “Im not important” = Then if no ears, no one would hear it.
Your part of the body matters | Your voice | Your prayers | Your encouragement | You matter | Your contribution matters| in the family of God
However, some of us think, even if we don’t say it, the small parts don’t matter - The invisible ministries don’t matter.
On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable,
Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.
God says, these are the most important to Him - That’s why we always start people serving in these roles - It’s so easy to be consumed by people when we are acknowledged.
I did some research;
Fingers - All are important, not pinky - lost 50% of your hand strength without it.
Yuvala - Dingly thing - Over a lifetime creates enoguh Siliva to fill 2 swimming pools
Armpit hair - If you want to be armpit hair prob same person looking into ears - Armpit hair defuses your BO - All the women said.
Your part matters in the body of Christ - Least Visible = Most important.
Just because what you do is not visible doesn’t mean it’s not important to GOD.
Invisible prayer warrior - Tonnes of time praying to God - Your faith has touched the heart of God and that is changing lives.
Picked up trash | hugged someone | Smiled at someone | GREAT WORK.
You are valuable to God’s work.
You know when you sleep on your arm - Wake up, and your arm is like dead - asleep - not working - That arm is a part of the body | but if it’s asleep = paralysed and useless. You are part of the body of christ ,but if you are not using the gifts that God has given you | You’re asleep.
If that’s you - Wake up - PLease, you’re valuable, you have something unique to offer | If one part of the body is asleep = Everyone else is working harder.
If you have been saved, you have been drafted.
We have to wake up to this | Feel this | Church not a building we go to, not an institution we come from | We do not come to Church so our needs can be met, We are the body of Christ | We are the Church and we have been put together to meet the needs from all over the world -
and in doing so MAYBE, MAYBE, the world will see LIGHT of Christ.
That’s what we do, It’s who we are - We are spiritiual contributors, not spiritual consumers.
Huddle in the middle of a game - This is where we are right now - You have people, giving oranges, energy drinks, physio is rubbing down players, people are giving encouragement - You NEVER see part of the main part of that team doing NOTHING.
This is where we are - The huddle - It says;
And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,
This is pre-huddle- We have a second huddle - It’s Mid-week, it’s our connect group | I am here to EQUIP YOU (Next week gonna be soo good) | Not to teach you a nice sermon, but to EQUIP you |
so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.
We Serve in here - So we have the capacity to serve out there!!
There is so much work out there, but God is asking you to come with a servant heart.

What do you think, would happen, if everyone engaged in ministry?
If we all saw our role as significant and valuable to GOD
Listen- Your presence matters. “It wouldn’t matter if I wasn’t at Church today”
No, if we have a family movie night and my daughter is not there, it’s not a family movie night.
What could happen if everyone engages? With our church? Look at our community - Look at what it requires | We say that we are Faith-Filled; Let’s be faith-filled;
Could we Eraticate Hunger? Eraticate Homeless in Vasse? Eraticate Loneliness?
Let’s start with lightening the load in here, so that we have capacity to serve out there.
Why is it important to serve as a Body out there? Why can’t we just do it all alone? Why do we have to do it as a “church”? Why is it important to get it right in here? To be one body?
There is a real enemy | Loves isolation | Loves to drag you away | But the things that we are coming up against, is darkness. We are stepping on enemy territory; You need to be equipped, you need to be ready - They say “teachers will get judged with greater strictness” - That is why we are careful in this area to release.
I’m going to show you a clip - Let’s imagine, that this buffalo is poverty in our region, let’s imagine, that the lions are us, let’s look at, why, it’s so important.

If you could recognise, that you are valuable to God not just becuase of who you are (which is true) but because you a valued member of Christ and this body. The chuch is not where you go, it’s WHO YOU ARE. IT’s a part of you, you’re a part of something.
Ecclessia = Called out ones.
If you’re not engaged | If you are not expressing and offering the unique value on which you are created…
Something that our God wants done is not getting done.
Everytime you do something for the Body, it matters. Every time you give, it matters. Every time you pray, it matters. Every time you gather, it matters to the HEART OF GOD.
You have no idea, how much your encouragement means to me - You have NO IDEA, how much that person needed that hug, you have no IDEA how much load you take when you decide to do morning tea -
I promise that everything in ME, I will do my part - If you promise me with everything that you have you will do your part.
And then the world will look on and say, our community will look on and say “Vasse - Magaret River, Busselton will look on and say…Oh that’s a big church…NO, they will look on and say…Our community is different becuase the Church is here.
The church is meeting needs, the church is showing love, the church is the BODY of CHRIST.
We need to go out there - we NEED TO, but if we go out there, without looking after in here, we will perish.
But it starts here, and it starts with being hte body of Christ, and it starts with knowing, that you are a valuable part, of God’s Body of Believers.
