39 And we are witnesses of all things which He did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem, whom they killed by hanging on a tree.
40 Him God raised up on the third day, and showed Him openly,
41 not to all the people, but to witnesses chosen before by God, even to us who ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead.
42 And He commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God to be Judge of the living and the dead.
43 To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.”
What does it mean to beleive in Jesus Christ,
How is this connected with remmision (forgiveness) of sin.
15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
The Gospel, is Jesus was crucified, Jesus died and Jesus rose again for our sin.
However What it means to believe in Jesus does not lie on what happened but on the identity of the one to whom these things happened.
Who was it that was crucified, who was it that dies, who was it that rose from the dead.
We cannot say that we believe in Jesus Christ, if we only believe what he did but do not who he was.
John 8:19–27 (NKJV)
19 Then they said to Him, “Where is Your Father?” Jesus answered, “You know neither Me nor My Father. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also.”
20 These words Jesus spoke in the treasury, as He taught in the temple; and no one laid hands on Him, for His hour had not yet come.
21 Then Jesus said to them again, “I am going away, and you will seek Me, and will die in your sin. Where I go you cannot come.”
22 So the Jews said, “Will He kill Himself, because He says, ‘Where I go you cannot come’?”
23 And He said to them, “You are from beneath; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world.
24 Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.”
25 Then they said to Him, “Who are You?” And Jesus said to them, “Just what I have been saying to you from the beginning.
26 I have many things to say and to judge concerning you, but He who sent Me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I heard from Him.”
27 They did not understand that He spoke to them of the Father.
They are going to die in their sins, not because they did not believe he died on the cross, nor because he rose from the dead but because they did not believe that he was the Father.
Beliveing in Jesus Christ, is beliveing that Jesus was the Father, it is in this believe that remission of sins given to us through his name.
Why Do we have to believe that Jesus Christ is the Father inorder to receive remission of Sins.
God had revealed two revelation about himself in the OLd Testament.
That he was the Only true God.
Deut 6:4 “4 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one!”
Beside God the father (Yahweh/Jehovah)there is no other God besides him.
That there was no saviour besides him
Isaiah 43:10–11 (NKJV)
10 “You are My witnesses,” says the Lord, “And My servant whom I have chosen, That you may know and believe Me, And understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, Nor shall there be after Me.
11 I, even I, am the Lord, And besides Me there is no savior.
There is no savior besides him
Isaiah 45:14–17 (NKJV)
14 Thus says the Lord: “The labor of Egypt and merchandise of Cush And of the Sabeans, men of stature, Shall come over to you, and they shall be yours; They shall walk behind you, They shall come over in chains; And they shall bow down to you. They will make supplication to you, saying, ‘Surely God is in you, And there is no other; There is no other God.’ ”
15 Truly You are God, who hide Yourself, O God of Israel, the Savior!
16 They shall be ashamed And also disgraced, all of them; They shall go in confusion together, Who are makers of idols.
17 But Israel shall be saved by the Lord With an everlasting salvation; You shall not be ashamed or disgraced Forever and ever.
He is the Savior, and he will save israel by an everlasting Salvation
Isaiah 49:24–26 (NKJV)
24 Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, Or the captives of the righteous be delivered?
25 But thus says the Lord: “Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, And the prey of the terrible be delivered; For I will contend with him who contends with you, And I will save your children.
26 I will feed those who oppress you with their own flesh, And they shall be drunk with their own blood as with sweet wine. All flesh shall know That I, the Lord, am your Savior, And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.”
He is the saviour and Redeemer of Jacob, he will redeem his people from captivity.
Hosea 13:4 (NKJV)
4 “Yet I am the Lord your God Ever since the land of Egypt, And you shall know no God but Me; For there is no savior besides Me.
Israel is to know no God but the Father, because there is no saviour besides him.
This was God’s revelation to his people.
God became the saviour of his people from the Bondage of Egypt through his Angel
Isaiah 63:8–9 (NKJV)
8 For He said, “Surely they are My people, Children who will not lie.” So He became their Savior.
9 In all their affliction He was afflicted, And the Angel of His Presence saved them; In His love and in His pity He redeemed them; And He bore them and carried them All the days of old.
God to save his people from the bondage of Sin, he became our saviour through his flesh.
1 Timothy 3:16 (NKJV)
16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among the Gentiles, Believed on in the world, Received up in glory.
Matthew 1:21–23 (NKJV)
21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
22 So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying:
23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”
Therefore Slavation from sin lies in beleiving that Jesus Christ is the one true God the Father.
Isaiah 45:21–25 (NKJV)
21 Tell and bring forth your case; Yes, let them take counsel together. Who has declared this from ancient time? Who has told it from that time? Have not I, the Lord? And there is no other God besides Me, A just God and a Savior; There is none besides Me.
There is no Just God and saviour besides him
22 “Look to Me, and be saved, All you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.
Every human being in the face of the earth that seeks salvation must look to the Father, yahweh.
23 I have sworn by Myself; The word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness, And shall not return, That to Me every knee shall bow, Every tongue shall take an oath.
24 He shall say, ‘Surely in the Lord I have righteousness and strength. To Him men shall come, And all shall be ashamed Who are incensed against Him.
25 In the Lord all the descendants of Israel Shall be justified, and shall glory.’ ”
38 Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins;
39 and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.
The Apostle by proclaiming forgiveness of sins (righteousness) and justification through Christ to the Gentiles they fullfilled what was prophesied by Isaiah 740 years before.
When you look to the man fro rightheousness, and justfication, You are looking to the Father. Because God has become a man in Christ.
Titus 2:11–14 (NKJV)
11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,
12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,
13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,
14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.
The redeemer, the mighty God of Jacob, God the father is the one that gave himself that he might redeem us
Believing in the Name
John 1:6–14 (NKJV)
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe.
8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9 That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.
11 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.
12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:
13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
There are only specific people who have been given the right to become the sons of God through his name.
THis are they who have received Jesus as the One and only God the father and that his name is the name of that one true God.
Isaiah 52:5–6 (NKJV)
5 Now therefore, what have I here,” says the Lord, “That My people are taken away for nothing? Those who rule over them Make them wail,” says the Lord, “And My name is blasphemed continually every day.
6 Therefore My people shall know My name; Therefore they shall know in that day That I am He who speaks: ‘Behold, it is I.’ ”
Having the revelation of the name, is knowing that it is Yahweh, (God the Father)who is speaking through that Name. It is the Name of (God the father).
Only Those who have this revelation and beleive that Jesus Christ is the father in his own flesh, have the right to become the Sons of God.
