Welcome to our service

Welcome to the Wednesday night service. Tonight we’re going to be praying for Sumatra in Indonesia.
(take prayer requests)
Thank you. If you’re new here, we study a little of the 2nd London Baptist confession, which is as close to a universal confession for Reform Baptists. As a congregation, we do not require 100% subscription to the confession, only to the Apostle’s Creed. However, the 1689 does some up a lot of good reformed faith well, so this is the confession we’ve adopted with some disclaimers.
Last week we discussed the first article of the confession, and one of the things we addressed is something we hear a lot from Charismatic Christians, the yearning for something more beyond the Bible. Not to retread that ground, but… there is nothing more for the believer than the Bible. That is it. It’s funny how most of the people who confess this need for something more often have the most cursory knowledge of Scripture. Before you ask for more, master what has been given to you - that’s my advice.
So let’s look at the next article.

The Holy Scriptures, or the Word of God written, consist of all the books of the Old and New Testaments. These are:

THE OLD TESTAMENT: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther, Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi.

THE NEW TESTAMENT: Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, Romans, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon, Hebrews, James, 1 Peter, 2 Peter, 1 John, 2 John, 3 John, Jude, Revelation.

All of these are given by the inspiration of God to be the standard of faith and life.
