Start:

1 Entice: Neil Kramer was a tired man at the end. He battled. He fought. He was strong. But he was tired.

2 Engage: I know that many of you, his family and friends were tired as well. Not just physically but emotionally, mentally, and spiritually as you watched his body wither and the light of his spirit pass. It is a hard thing.

3 Expand: Everyone dies. Yet it is still hard for those who remain to go through the heart wrenching process. He is now at rest. You can be at rest. His eternal rest is possible because of faith in Christ and the sustaining knowledge that our Lord has conquered death. You can take comfort and find rest in the same fact. Hebrews 4.9-13

Hebrews 4:9–13 ESV
9 So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, 10 for whoever has entered God’s rest has also rested from his works as God did from his. 11 Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience. 12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. 13 And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

Explore: We find rest in the complete work of Christ and the enduring presence of His word.

Explain: A couple of brief reminders as you continue to process his passing.

1 God is the Source of our Rest. 9-11

1.1 Because we are HIS people.

1.2 Because our work mirrors His work, our sabbath mirrors His sabbath.

1.3 Our rest is possible because we respond in faith.

2 God's Word Sustains us. 12-13

2.1 God's living Word exposes us totally to Him.

2.2 God's living Word prepares us to give account to Him.

Shut Down:

Peace is possible and comfort available in Christ Jesus. In the midst of grief you can find strength.

Jude 1.24-25

Jude 24–25 ESV
24 Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, 25 to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.
