John 1:1 ESV
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:14 ESV
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

The God Who Became Man

Jesus Christ came into the world in human flesh. He voluntarily set aside the independent use of His divine attributes and took on the form of a man.
He was fully human, a man in every way, except that he was without sin.
This is referred to as the incarnation.
What does Philippians 2:6 say about Jesus before He became a man?
Philippians 2:6 ESV
6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,
b. According to Philippians 2:7 what did Jesus do?
Philippians 2:7 ESV
7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.
c. Jesus was fully human.
Jesus’ human growth and development as a youth:
Luke 2:40 ESV
40 And the child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom. And the favor of God was upon him.
Luke 2:52 ESV
52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.
ii. Jesus’ response when He was tired:
Mark 4:38 ESV
38 But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?”
iii. Jesus’ response to lack of food:
Luke 4:2 ESV
2 for forty days, being tempted by the devil. And he ate nothing during those days. And when they were ended, he was hungry.
iv. How did Jesus feel after a journey:
John 4:6 ESV
6 Jacob’s well was there; so Jesus, wearied as he was from his journey, was sitting beside the well. It was about the sixth hour.
v. How did Jesus react when He was grieved:
John 11:35 ESV
35 Jesus wept.
vi. What did Jesus say about himself:
Luke 24:39 ESV
39 See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me, and see. For a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.”

The Man Who is God

Even though Jesus took on the form of a man, He was still fully God.
Consider the following marks of deity attributed to Christ.

A.) Attributes

Sovereign: Matthew 28:18
Matthew 28:18 ESV
18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Eternal: 1John 1:1-2
1 John 1:1–2 ESV
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life— 2 the life was made manifest, and we have seen it, and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was made manifest to us—
Unchanging (immutable): Hebrews 13:8
Hebrews 13:8 ESV
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
All knowing (omniscient): Colossians 2:2-3
Colossians 2:2–3 ESV
2 that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God’s mystery, which is Christ, 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
Perfect or sinless: 2 Corinthians 5:21
2 Corinthians 5:21 ESV
21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Holy Acts 3:14-15
Acts 3:14–15 ESV
14 But you denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, 15 and you killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses.
Truth: John 14:6
John 14:6 ESV
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Christ demonstrated His power (omnipotence) in His earthly ministry in the following ways:
Matthew 8:23-27: Power over Creation by claiming the storm.
Luke 4:40: Power over sickness and disease.
Luke 4:33-36: power over demons.
John 11:43-44: power over death.
Mark 2:3-12: Power or authority on earth to forgive sins.
Since Jesus had the authority to forgive sins, and only God can forgive sins, Jesus is God.

Matthew 1:23: Immanuel (“God with Us”)
Philippians 2:10-11: Lord (sovereign)
John 8:58: I am (a title reserved for God Exodus 3:14)
