This morning we are starting a new series titled Summer Stories.
This four-week series will explores the lives of four people who had profound, life-changing encounters with Jesus. We will connect their stories to other modern-day individuals who have had similar experiences.
We can all have life changing event with Christ. It just matter if you want to experience it or not.
If you have you bible go head and turn to Matthew 10:1-4. If not you can follow along on the screen in a few minutes.
Before we look at how Jesus changed the life of our first person. I have a question for you. So think for a moment.

Have you ever had to give up something for the greater good?

Hmm… how would you answer this question. I would say that we have all had to give up something at some time in our life. Whether it be a job, friends, school, family, or a loved one. There are something in you life that you had to give up at some point.
For me was us move here. You is when we left we gave up seeing all of our family on a normal bases. There are was other thing behind the move and will look at some of those thing a little later.
We all have something to give up.

What would you be willing to give up if Jesus called you?

Matthew 10:1–4 CSB
1 Summoning his twelve disciples, he gave them authority over unclean spirits, to drive them out and to heal every disease and sickness. 2 These are the names of the twelve apostles: First, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; 3 Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; 4 Simon the Zealot, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

Jesus calls the twelve

Before this moment in the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus had called these men (in small groups or as individuals) to drop what they were doing to follow him as disciples.
Has we just read this is the moment that Jesus calling these men in a group to do some great thing. This would have never happened if they had not decided to follow Jesus and leaving/ give up what they had to follow him.
These men gave up everything for the mission that Jesus was doing. They gave up everything for the greater good. They had no clue what they where walking into. They could have been agree to their death. We have the benefit of seeing how thing would play out. They had no clue The disciples had to make a decision to follow him as their leader by faith.

Do you have faith like the disciples?

Sometimes, God asks us to leave our day job—or our plans for a day job—and follow him vocationally. When this happens, the person is walking away from what they know well, their experience as a laborer or worker, their family trade, or the final goals for which they have planned. This is a big ask.
You see this was what happened when we left to move here. It was not just lets move to Edmonton and see how it goes. God lead on my heart and Nikki’s that this was what he wanted us to do. We had to have faith that he would take care of us and not let us down.
We we had the call. I left a good paying job. Where all of our family parents, grandparents on both sides my bother and sister in-law. We had everyone with in 15 minute drive of our house. Not much we owned our own house that the time. We sold our house and left our family. Drove over 2000 miles to a place where we had to rent a small place. Why? because God said go and we were willing to give it all up for him.
After the move we have never looked back. God has provided for us more time that we can count.

We all have a call on our life

In some way. The first is Jesus is calling you back to him this morning. He called everyone of the disciples on their own or some group before calling them in a group. He is calling you this morning too. IF you have never answer that call why are you waiting. He came to earth for you. He gave up is life for you. He rose again for you. Will you turn to him this morning and answer the first call on you life to follow him. Please talk with me after service if you want to answer this call this morning.
After we answer the first call to follow Jesus he want some more for us. He wants us to answer the second call. This call is different for each and everyone of us. Some might be called like I was to leave everything behind to follow where God was calling. Some might be called to keep their job but follow Jesus into full time ministry. Other it might be just share want Christ has done in your life with someone else.
We all have to calls on our life. The first being the most important. The first call secure your soul for eternity. The second we just talked about.

What is Jesus calling you to do?

Where is God calling you to sacrificially serve him?
God calls all of us to follow him wholeheartedly, and some to follow him into vocational ministry.
Are you willing to give up everything for him. This morning I asked if you had ever give up something for the greater good. Jesus is telling you that it ok to give everything up for him. He wants that. Are you willing?
