Introduction
The Great Consummation
The Groom is about to arrive.
The Bride is set
All arrangements have been made.
It is Time
It gives us a sense of nervousness
Do you remember when you got married? I was so nervous.......
You plan and Plan but when the day comes - WOW - You hope you chose wisely. Thanks to Jesus He chose you, while you were sinners AMEN
Revelation 19 NASB95
After these things I heard something like a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying, Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God; because His judgments are true and righteous; for He has judged the great harlot who was corrupting the earth with her immorality, and He has avenged the blood of His bond-servants on her.” And a second time they said, “Hallelujah! Her smoke rises up forever and ever.” And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who sits on the throne saying, “Amen. Hallelujah!” And a voice came from the throne, saying, Give praise to our God, all you His bond-servants, you who fear Him, the small and the great.” Then I heard something like the voice of a great multitude and like the sound of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, saying, Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns. “Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready.” It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. Then he said to me, “Write, ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.’ ” And he said to me, “These are true words of God.” Then I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Do not do that; I am a fellow servant of yours and your brethren who hold the testimony of Jesus; worship God. For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself. He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses. From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty. And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.” Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and he cried out with a loud voice, saying to all the birds which fly in midheaven, “Come, assemble for the great supper of God, so that you may eat the flesh of kings and the flesh of commanders and the flesh of mighty men and the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them and the flesh of all men, both free men and slaves, and small and great.” And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies assembled to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army. And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet who performed the signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image; these two were thrown alive into the lake of fire which burns with brimstone. And the rest were killed with the sword which came from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse, and all the birds were filled with their flesh.

Heavenly Celebration

Celebration
Before the celebration comes everything is set straight.
A. Praising the Lamb for his wrath on a corrupt false religion (19:1–5)
1. This false religious system is condemned on two counts.
a. Corrupting the earth with immorality (19:2a)
b. Murdering the saints of God (19:2b)
The gavel has dropped the judgement has been made and the sentence is carried out.
The floor is swept
2. The rejoicing over this judgment (19:1, 3–5)
a. The song (19:1b, 3, 4b–5): It consists of one great, grand, and glorious word: “Hallelujah!” - UIn Hebrew it means Praise Yahweh.

In the NT it occurs only at Rev. 19:1, 3, 4, 6, where it introduces or merges into a hymn of victory and forms with ἀμήν (19:4) an independent response.

Hallelujah - used 4 times in the passage - but no where else in the NT
b. The singers (19:1a, 4a) 2 groups
(1) A vast multitude (19:1a)
(2) The twenty-four elders and four living creatures (19:4a)
Praise the Lord all His saints - This is the worship he desires -
Can you see a global praise ring up to heaven - Every nation , every tongue- in every fashion and way.
B. Praising the Lamb for his wedding to a pure and spotless Bride (19:6–10)
Hebrew Marriage had parts to it
Betrothal
Conditions are made, terms are settled
Blessings are pronounced
Confirmed by witnesses - Legally binding
Interval
The time of preparation
Marriage feast planned
Dowry is paid
All services are rendered.
Procession
Bride adorns herself
Groom and friends get ready
Groom proceeds to the brides house
He takes her to his house or a pre planned place
Marriage Supper
Isn't it amazing Jesus started his ministry at a wedding. Talk about significant.
God has come for his bride
1. The clothing of the bride (19:6–9): She wears the cleanest, whitest, and finest of linens.
How is that possible when we are mean, corrupt, wicked people,
Revelation 3:5
He who overcomes will thus be clothed in white garments; and I will not erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.
Gods betrothal to His Bride is sure
Hosea 2:19 NASB95
“I will betroth you to Me forever; Yes, I will betroth you to Me in righteousness and in justice, In lovingkindness and in compassion,
2. The chastening of the apostle (19:10): John is rebuked for attempting to worship the angel who is revealing these things to him.
He says the testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of Prophecy - what does that mean?
The Gospel of jesus has its origin in heaven and is sent forth into the world by the Holy Spirit
Earthly Confrontation
THE CONFRONTATION
A. The appearance of heaven’s King (19:11): John sees Jesus, who is called Faithful and True, seated on a white horse, coming from heaven.
Before the Wedding feast - God has to remove everything that stands in the way.
All this proclaimed in Ch 11
B. His apparel is of heaven’s King (19:12–13, 15–16)
1. His eyes are like flaming fire (19:12a). - Nothing hidden from his gaze
2. He is wearing many crowns (19:12b). Kings Crown
3. His robe is dipped in blood (19:13a).splashed with the blood of vanquished foes
4. His titles (19:13b, 16)
a. The Word of God (19:13b)
b. King of Kings and Lord of Lords (19:16)
c. And a hidden name
He is the faithful and true one - the keeper of the covenant the reliable one
5. He holds a sword in his mouth (19:15)
Today this is an unrecognizable Jesus. The Jesus we preached for so many years looks more like Mr Rogers or Santa Claus. Mild, Meek and Huggable. We are more interested in teh gifts than the giver of them. We like the Jesus that does not rocks our boat.
I saw a bumper sticker yesterday on a car plastered with bumper stickers - Have you seen these kind of cars.
Tolerance and love for everything was the motto. The sticker said “who would Jesus bomb?
As I scanned the stickers, it was evident this person has no clue who Jesus really was, what he stands for, His truth, His Holiness, etc.
Jesus is not a contradiction - This is the Jesus spoken of in the prophets, the one who they were expecting to roll into Jerusalem 60 years earlier.
At the beginning of revelation we see him, we see Him in the throne room - now we see him in His glory.
Nothing is going to stand in his way.
He alone holds the title King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
Every other false religion, every Idol, everything that sets itself up against the Lordship of Jesus will be destroyed.
He is the commander of the Hosts of Heaven.
He has an army
C. The armies accompanying heaven’s King (19:14): They are dressed in finest linen and follow him on white horses.
Interesting to point out - they have no weapons.
The battle belongs to the Lord
Isaiah 11:3–5 ESV
And his delight shall be in the fear of the Lord. He shall not judge by what his eyes see, or decide disputes by what his ears hear, but with righteousness he shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth; and he shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall kill the wicked. Righteousness shall be the belt of his waist, and faithfulness the belt of his loins.
D. Battle of Armagedon
There are two types of feasts that are going to happen
Feasting with Jesus
Feasting of the vultures
The later is graphic, horrific and you would think with the constand warnings that people would repent. The sad reality is some don’t
Announced in Chapter 16:12-16 and in
Ezekiel 39:17–20 NASB95
“As for you, son of man, thus says the Lord God, ‘Speak to every kind of bird and to every beast of the field, “Assemble and come, gather from every side to My sacrifice which I am going to sacrifice for you, as a great sacrifice on the mountains of Israel, that you may eat flesh and drink blood. “You will eat the flesh of mighty men and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, as though they were rams, lambs, goats and bulls, all of them fatlings of Bashan. “So you will eat fat until you are glutted, and drink blood until you are drunk, from My sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you. “You will be glutted at My table with horses and charioteers, with mighty men and all the men of war,” declares the Lord God.
1. Jesus defeats the Antichrist and false prophet (19:17–19, 21): Their armies are utterly destroyed.
2. Both the Antichrist and false prophet are thrown into the lake of fire.
Not much of a Battle
The arrival of Jesus for most will be treated a a myth.
Matthew 24:36 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,[f] but only the Father. 37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 40 Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.
42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him
Christ rules on earth for one thousand years. After the Millennium, Satan is finally defeated once and for all and is thrown into hell. The Great White Throne Judgment occurs.
Conclusion
The Marriage Supper is a joyous banquet - but you have to be invited
Revelation 17:14 NASB95
“These will wage war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, because He is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those who are with Him are the called and chosen and faithful.”
