4 Standards for Dating
from the Word of God
1. There Must be Parental Support
Proverbs 6:20-24 NKJV
My son, keep your father’s command, And do not forsake the law of your mother. Bind them continually upon your heart; Tie them around your neck. When you roam, they will lead you; When you sleep, they will keep you; And when you awake, they will speak with you. For the commandment is a lamp, And the law a light; Reproofs of instruction arethe way of life, To keep you from the evil woman, From the flattering tongue of a seductress.
2. Don’t Date Non-Believers
(or those that don’t have the same values as you)
2 Corinthians 6:14-15 NKJV
Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever?
3 Essentials Necessary For Relationships to Thrive
1.Have Common Values
2.Have Fellowship with one anther, and Christ
3.Have Harmony in their life-focus
The Truth About Relationships
with Unbelievers
1.They Seldom Last
2.They are Tough from the Beginning (Lack the 3 Essentials)
3.You Won’t get Past Truth 1 with Christian Parents
4.You Can’t Change Their Bad Values (Dating Evangelism Doesn’t Work!)
5.They Bring You Down
Judges 3:6-7 NKJV
And they took their daughters to be their wives, andgave their daughters to their sons; and they served their gods. So the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD. They forgot the LORD their God, and served the Baals and Asherahs.
Nehemiah 13:26-27 NKJV
Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? Yet among many nations there was no king like him, who was beloved of his God; and God made him king over all Israel. Nevertheless pagan women caused even him to sin. Should we then hear of your doing all this great evil, transgressing against our God by marrying pagan women?
3. Keep it Pure
I Thessalonians 4:3-4 NKJV
For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor
2 Timothy 2:22 NKJV
Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
4. You Can’t Allow it to Negatively Affect Your Relationship with God
Colossians 2:6-7 NKJV
As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.
