5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Question- Ask Pastor Henderson to come up front, Give him a paper that that says , I was broke and homeless last month but yesterday I am self made billionaire.
Give Elder Stephan a sign that says I was once depressed yesterday but today I am happy and at peace.
If you had chance ask these men a question; what would you ask them?
How did you do you do it? Can you teach me how to do it?
In today passage Paul is showing and teaching us how get the mind of Christ
Phil 2:5 is some of the most empowering Words in the scriptures.
I say this because Apostle Paul inspired by the Holy lets the believers in the Philippian church and the believer in today's church Know that they can have the MIND of Christ Jesus.
The purpose of this sermon is to reveal what is the mind and how to obtain the mindset of Christ Jesus,
In others words, we can today not only receive the Holy Spirit - The spirit that raise Jesus from the dead.
We can also receive the mindset of Christ Jesus. We can know what was Chris thinking, what was His attitude, his though and attitude while He was here on the and while he is on the right hand of God.
Jesus ( all God and all man)
What lead to Paul (lead by the Holy Ghost) saying “ Let this mind be in you?
Paul established this church after he had a vision. Act 16 :9-10
9 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us. 10 And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them.
The Mecedonia call lead him to Phillip a roman Colony
Philpi became a Roman Colony
Philippi then became a Roman colony settled by army veterans and produced its own coinage. When King Audusta Octavian defeated Mark Antony at the Battle of Actium in 31 BCE, the city received another influx of new residents, this time settlers who had lost their land during reforms in Italy
He met Lydia a seller of Purple and
he cast a demon out of a slave girl
He was put in jail _ Paul and Salis sing
There was an earthquake=
Phillipian jail was saved
Paul & Silas was released (Roman)
Epa phro ditus ministered to Pauls , gave him a gift and informed him of what was going on in Philippi.
Therefore Paul main theme of the letter was let this mind be in you
Jesus was in the form of God; he was all God and man
Jesus understood he was equal with God, he had all power and authority.
He knew his purpose was be a service and to seek and save those that are lost. Luke 19:10
10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
Like we should understand we were made in God’s image to be his ambassodors
20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.
Jesus submit himself to do God will and sacrifed his for us
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Likewise we must present our bodies and living sacrifice and carry our cross.
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Jesus was exalted because he humbled himself.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Likewise if humble our serves God will exalt
11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
11 For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
