What is truth: Truth about the Word

Intro

Last week we looked at how society and culture have warped truth

This is nothing new

We looked at roman society

And talked about how they have exchanged the truth about God for a lie

Romans 1:25 ESV

25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.

We talked about how this plays out in society

And at the end of our time we got to talking about how we combat these false hoods

Combating these lies requires a truth that is unchanging

As christians we would say this truth is the truth of the Word

The Bible is the truth we must argue from

It is the only thing we can stand on

It doesnt change

The truths dont go away

We know that the things said here havent changed

In fact the way God was saving thousands of years ago is how he is saving today

By grace through faith

This is the truth in the word

Psalm 19:7–11 (ESV)

7 The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; 8 the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; 9 the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. 11 Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.
