‘Then I will take you for My people, and I will be your God; and you shall know that I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.
‘I will bring you to the land which I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and I will give it to you for a possession; I am the Lord.’ ”
“So you shall keep My commandments, and do them; I am the Lord.
“You shall not profane My holy name, but I will be sanctified among the sons of Israel; I am the Lord who sanctifies you,
‘For I am the Lord your God. Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am holy. And you shall not make yourselves unclean with any of the swarming things that swarm on the earth.
‘For I am the Lord who brought you up from the land of Egypt to be your God; thus you shall be holy, for I am holy.’ ”
“Speak to all the congregation of the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy.

‘Thus you are to be holy to Me, for I the Lord am holy; and I have set you apart from the peoples to be Mine.
‘You shall consecrate yourselves therefore and be holy, for I am the Lord your God.
and so as to make a distinction between the holy and the profane, and between the unclean and the clean,
and so as to teach the sons of Israel all the statutes which the Lord has spoken to them through Moses.”
Now Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took their respective firepans, and after putting fire in them, placed incense on it and offered strange fire before the Lord, which He had not commanded them.
And fire came out from the presence of the Lord and consumed them, and they died before the Lord.
Then Moses said to Aaron, “It is what the Lord spoke, saying, ‘By those who come near Me I will be treated as holy, And before all the people I will be honored.’ ” So Aaron, therefore, kept silent.
