John 3:36
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
INTRODUCTION:
The world’s greatest sin is not adultery, murder, cursing, stealing, or drunkenness. The greatest sin in the world is unbelief.
UNBELIEF HINDERS THE LORD IN HIS WORKING
And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
1. Unbelief binds the hands of God.
2. Unbelief hinders the operation of grace.
UNBELIEF SHUTS OUT FROM BLESSING
So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.
1. Israel looked at things from man’s standpoint
2. They died short of the goal.
UNBELIEF KEEPS BLESSING BACK FROM OTHERS
A. “Thy disciples could not cast them out.”
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
B. 10 Spies
C. Jonah
UNBELIEF CAUSES DEPARTURE FROM GOD
Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
B. Naomi—Ruth 1:20
C. Prodigal—Luke 15
UNBELIEF CONDEMNS A SINNER
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
B. Under curse of God.
C. Under the wrath of God—John 3:36
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
UNBELIEF INSULTS GOD
A. “Because I have called and ye refused; I have stretched forth my hand and no man regarded.”
B. I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh.”
C. “Then shall ye call upon me but I will not answer thee.” – Prov. 1:24–28
Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you. Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:
UNBELIEF SEALS A SINNERS DOOM FOREVER

B. “If ye believe not I am He, ye shall die in your sins.”—John 8:24
