What is Salvation

Understanding sin (separation from God)
understanding that we are born into sin
Ecclesiastes 7:20 NASB95
20 Indeed, there is not a righteous man on earth who continually does good and who never sins.
So we are all sinners.
So what is salvation
Eternal fellowship/union with God
John 3:16–17 NASB95
16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. 17 “For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.
Saved from what?
Eternal judgement and wrath of God for sin.

Is Salvation easy?

Many people have different beliefs about salvation.
Lets deal with questions about salvation.

is it easy?

We find churches open up the doors of the church and have a prayer that they ask all people to recite.
is that salvation?
Is it just to say a prayer?
Romans 10:9 NASB95
9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;
confess - to commit one self to
believe - dependent on

Can a person lose there salvation????

Can your life make you lose it?
Romans 3:23 NASB95
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
All of us have missed the mark
everyday we missed the mark we sin
You can give yourself salvation/ you cant take it away
Matthew 19:25–26 NASB95
25 When the disciples heard this, they were very astonished and said, “Then who can be saved?” 26 And looking at them Jesus said to them, “With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
You cant not losr lose your salvation Because it was given to you.
Even when sin is in your life, the Lord will protect and keep His own.
Romans 8:38–39 NASB95
38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
John 10:14–15 NASB95
14 “I am the good shepherd, and I know My own and My own know Me, 15 even as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.
John 10:29 NASB95
29 “My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.
Hebrews 12:6 HCSB
6 for the Lord disciplines the one He loves and punishes every son He receives.
ALWAYS MY CHILD STORY!!!!!!

What is the doctrine of substitution?

2 Corinthians 5:21 NASB95
21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
God took the life of Jesus and substituted it for our lives

Only one way

salvation comes through Jesus Christ alone

Not through being a “good person”
not from Buddhism
not Islam
not in just knowing about Jesus
But Jesus being LORD of your life
Acts 4:12 NASB95
12 “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”
John 14:6 NASB95
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

To Know

That does it mean to know?????
Matthew 7:21–23 NASB95
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. 22 “Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ 23 “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’
to Know (ginosko)
Intimate knowing
you can be involved with the church, and all that
But if you don't have a relationship with Christ. you will not be in eternity with Him

Earn it?

Salvation does not come from our works,
we do not earn our salvation.
Titus 3:5 NASB95
5 He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,
Ephesians 2:8–9 NASB95
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Salvation is a gift/ not a wage

it is not because of what we do.
how good of a person we are
Romans 6:23 NASB95
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Salvation is a gift from God, it is not because of your works, so that no man my boost.
If a man boost about his works for salvation, why would we need a savior.

What about the extra holy!!!????

Isaiah 64:6 (NASB95)
6 For all of us have become like one who is unclean,
And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment;
What about Those who step away?
1 John 2:19 NASB95
19 They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, so that it would be shown that they all are not of us.

Abide

- to Stay
John 15:4–7 NASB95
4 “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. 6 “If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned. 7 “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

Do we care about Salvation?

Do we have the right to determine?
