There’s a guy that I work w/, from what I’ve been told he’s always been athletic. He played a couple of different sports, but his main sport was cheerleading. He started competitively cheerleading around 10th grade and found out he was great at it. So much that he actually started to get scholarship offers. His senior year he had decided he was going to MSU. He had an offer for a fullride scholarship. Seemed like his life was on a trajectory to succeed in a lot of different ways. Well he was hanging out w/ some friends, he was drinking and there were girls around. He was really good at flips, and the cheerleader girls would go crazy when he would do his flips. He got the bright idea to get in the bed of the truck and told his friend to start the truck. His friend started the truck, he told him to go and got upto speed he probably shouldnt have even been standing in the back of the truck while going. He finally got the bright idea to do a back flip out of the truck while drunk. He flipped and landed wrong and ended up breaking one of his legs and some other bones, and losing his full scholarship. Ended up having to pay out of pocket for his scholarship. He had a momentum going in his life that he should of found success in, but he stifled it by a pour choice focused on what other people thought. He was distracted.
Maybe I didn’t suffer as severe a consequence but I know that I have and I’m sure you to a certain degree have made a choice(s) that have derailed your focus. Your focus from grades, sports, pageants, Jesus? And there’s always things that try to steal our focus from momentum. Alot of people have lived past lives of what some would consider intense sin, others not so much. For some porn has been a major problem, for others lying, others pride. But that was before you accepted Christ, at least that’s the way it’s supposed to be.
What God’s standard is, is holiness. So when we are living in ways of darkness consistently , and you claim to be christian, its time to re-evaluate if you truly have accepted Jesus’ sacrifice.
1 John 2:3-6 “Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.”
So, we know that accepting Christ is is about more than saying a prayer. And being a good person. It’s about leaning on Jesus’ sacrifice & pursuing Holiness.
