What is the coolest thing that you have ever created? Was it a picture? Did you build something? What did you use to make this really cool thing? Were you using a paintbrush? Or using wood and a hammer?

What if you were to try and make something without any tools or paint? Why don't you try that now? Try and make something without using anything at all! Can you do it? No! You can’t! Why can’t you make something without using anything? Because we are unable to make something out of nothing, we need something that has already been created or made in order to make something else.

But do you know who did create something out of nothing? God! The Bible tells us this!

Hebrews 11:3 - “By faith, we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was made from things that are not visible.”

When God created the universe, He made it without using anything at all! No tools or paintbrushes, no paper or wood, no paint. God existed before everything was created, before Him, there was absolutely nothing. Have you ever thought about what nothing would look like? Well…it would look like nothing!

God just spoke and everything that we see around us was made. Isn’t that cool? And God didn’t need any help either! He didn’t need someone showing Him how to create the galaxies, He didn’t need someone to help Him lift the heavy earth and put it into place, there wasn’t something He used because He didn’t know how to make the sun. No, God did it all by Himself without any help and He made it perfectly and beautifully. God used His imagination and from His imagination, everything was created.

God made us like Him in some ways. Because we can use our imagination as well. You can have an imaginary friend, you can think of fun or silly things that aren’t real, but in your mind they are real! Well, when God created everything, it was in His mind and He made it all to be real!

Do you know how big the whole universe is? When you see stars outside, do you know far away they are? When you look in a telescope at a planet like Saturn, do you know how big it is? When you feel the heat of the sun, do you know how hot it is? Since God made everything do you think that there is anything or anyone that is more powerful than Him?

And since God created everything do you think anything or anyone else deserves us singing about how great they are? No!

If your friend makes a really awesome painting you might say “wow, that is a really great picture!” You want to praise them for making something great. So how much more praise does God deserve for creating the universe and everything in it?!

See, God made everything so we could enjoy Him, to help us understand that He is so great, and that He created everything! And this week we will talk about the world that God has created.
