God Can Do It
Marvellous things did he in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan. He divided the sea, and caused them to pass through; and he made the waters to stand as an heap. In the daytime also he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire. He clave the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink as out of the great depths. He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers. And they sinned yet more against him by provoking the most High in the wilderness. And they tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust. Yea, they spake against God; they said, Can God furnish a table in the wilderness? Behold, he smote the rock, that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed; can he give bread also? can he provide flesh for his people?
God Can Do It
INTRODUCTION:
In scorn the people asked the question, “Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?” There are two classes of people:
Success Come In Cans
(1) The “Can God?” group
(2) The “God Can” group
Which group are you in?
Note some things God can do!
GOD CAN TURN NIGHT TO DAY
“They that sat in darkness saw a great light”
In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
A. People are blind to the deceitfulness of sin.
B. People are blind to their need of salvation.
C. People are blind to the joys of being saved.
“This one thing I Know, whereas I was blind, now I see.”
GOD CAN TURN BONDAGE INTO LIBERTY
Jesus set three people free:
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
A. A wild man from demons.
B. A sick woman from disease.
C. A dead child from death.
GOD CAN TURN DOUBT INTO BLESSED ASSURANCE
Thomas cried, “My Lord and my God.”
A. Paul cried, “I believe God.”
B. The dad in Mark 10 cried, “Help my unbelief.”
C. In Acts they cried, “And they believed.”
GOD CAN TURN DEFEAT INTO VICTORY
A. “We have toiled all night and have taken nothing.”
And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.
B. “Launch out into the deep.”
Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.
C. “And when they had done this, they enclosed a great multitude of fish; and their net brake.”
And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.
GOD CAN TURN A STORM INTO A GREAT CALM
A. “And there arose a great storm of wind.”
And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.
B. “And Jesus said, ‘Why are ye so fearful;”
And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?
GOD CAN TURN DEATH INTO LIFE
“If in this life only we have hope, we are of all men most miserable.”
A. “My brother would not have died.”
Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
B. “And He cried, ‘Lazarus come forth!”
And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
C. “And he who was dead come forth.”
And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
