Today we are in the Book of Hebrews....But before we dive in i have a story this morning, or really more of a memory
Binoculars story
My grandparents when they were still working, My grandfather is a retired Colonel Chaplin.
For awhile he was stationed at fort Bragg .
We would, we being me and my sisters.
Would through out the summer go spend time with them for about a week.
Give my mums a break.
The house that they had was pretty nice.
All brick home on the corner of a quiet little neighborhood.
The layout was pretty inside as well.
You would walk inside the front door and on your right you would see what could have been a den but was more like a study room.
Desk with a Computer.
The type of computer that would make noises when connecting to the internet okay.
But its an nice quiet room.
Its the area where around 1am-2am…youll find the hippest grandma scrolling through facebook and laughing her behind off at the most silly memes she could find on her timeline.
Continue explaining the house layout to the kitchen……
The kitchen had this recessed table area you could sit at and enjoy a nice quick meal.
Something like a San which and bag of chips.
However one morning i found myself in the kitchen while grandma was whipping up some bacon eggs and pancakes.
When i remember she stopped and said ohh look, See my grandma had a little hobby i imagine.
Because she had these little stick in the back yard that would house a bird feed on it.
At this specific moment she had just seen a red cardinal and I remember her pointing at it explaining where it was and when i had finally seen it she had come up to me and gave me a set of binoculars.
Now this moment she put the binoculars up to my face and i looked through them.
Now at this point i was old enough to be respectful to my elders, So in my kindest heart after peering through the binoculars a short time said “oh wow”
in my most sincere way.
As my grandma said “can you even see through those and began to touch the top of the binoculars and change what i would later learn is the focus.
Then in a real awe and fascination I said “Oh wow”
With the right tool proper setting and correct usage binoculars are very very neat.
I could now see in detail and almost up close and personal the birds wings and how they sway back and forth.
it was beautiful.
See many of us know the functionality of binoculars, we know how they work, we know the purpose behind a set of binoculars is to see something far away really close.
But what im afraid is some of you in this room if we began to hand out a pair of binoculars some may leave the caps on the end, some may not know which moving slide can affect the focus.
Im afraid we know the functinality but we dont know how to dial it in.
And no im obvisously not talking about binoculars anymore.
Im talking about the Churches Faith.
We know the functinality of christianity.
we understand that is our salvation we lean on.
We understand that we must lean on God and accept the Blood of jesus for our lives to be saved.
Explain Jesus life death and cruixfiction.
See we understand functianlity of chritianity brings our salavatiion.
So we use our faith to keep our salvation.
However we stop there.
And i can prove to you the church stops here.
Because there isnt any change.
If we dial in what Christianity is then we can make a fight worth fighting count.
We know the functinality of christianity but we dont know how to change lifes.
But listen.....its okay.
This isnt me coming after the church....no no no....
This isn’t anything like that.
Its just the proof is where the pudding is....idk sounds like a statement.
Its okay because in the book of hebrews we see a similar situation.
But we also see the answered perspective.
Today i want us to understand the
Title: Beauty of a Dialed in Faith.
But just like the binoculars we need the right tool, proper setting and Correct application for us.
Today we are going to start a new chapter for Ignite Fellowship.
We’re going to dive into the scriptures in ways we haven’t gone before.
Today we are going to open up the book of Hebrews and if we have time we will break down the first few scriptures of this passage.
I say if we have time because theres some explanation to do.
Let me adjust the focus on what we are trying to look at here because the book of hebrews is a little different.
For example anyone in this room able to tell me the author of this book?
Yeah So hebrews has no authorship.....
time frame some time before the fall of The Temple in Jeresulaem.
Nero Persecutions
lasted 31 years
Nero claimed a huge fire that burned down a bunch of old structures, which he then rushed to and put up
This book is written to a persecuted church.
Today were going to touch base with the first few scriptures but first I want us to realize how much alike we are to the current level of this passage.
I want us to see how much what they were facing as the Church of Christ, are similar in many many ways to you and I on this very day.
5 Things I want us to look at and ultimately realize before we reach some verses in Chapter one.
1.

a.
It looks like the numbers of whoever this is written to are shrinking away.
