Step 1 - What do they need to know
We are not wise with money
We live in a system that is built on getting things you don’t need
Step 2 - Why do they need to know it
SO many of your struggles now are related to unwise financial decision.
Ans they take along time to get out of.
You need wisdom over your money
Step 3 - Explain & illustrate
Generosity:
Proverbs 11:24–26 NIV
One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed. People curse the one who hoards grain, but they pray God’s blessing on the one who is willing to sell.
Greed:
Proverbs 1:19 NIV
Such are the paths of all who go after ill-gotten gain; it takes away the life of those who get it.
Proverbs 15:27 NIV
The greedy bring ruin to their households, but the one who hates bribes will live.
Hard Work:
Proverbs 24:33–34 NIV
A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest— and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man.
Proverbs 13:11 NIV
Dishonest money dwindles away, but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow.
Debt
Proverbs 22:7 NIV
The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender.
Proverbs 17:18 NIV
One who has no sense shakes hands in pledge and puts up security for a neighbor.
Step 4 - What do you want them to do
Realise - Its not your money, youre a steward
Proverbs 30:7–9 NIV
“Two things I ask of you, Lord; do not refuse me before I die: Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, ‘Who is the Lord?’ Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.
Revolve your finances around your generosity. It’s amazing what you have to think through
Is this a wise choice, not is this a good choice.
Step 5 - Why do you need them to do it
Blessing comes through giving, not recieving.
Jesus about more blesses to give than receive.
Dave Ramsey Story about giving to a waitress
Your life will be measured by what you give away, not what you accumulate
Step 6 - Memorable saying
Be generous so it hurts a bit, then work our the rest.
Pray for wisdome over your finances
