I. Built Upon Assurance (1a)

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for,

Assurance = Substance of a strong form so as to be a foundation to be built upon

Translated: and there is no foothold;

Hoped For = Things unseen and not, as of yet, obtained

II. Built Upon Conviction (1b-2)

Conviction: Evidence or Proven in the individuals

Not Seen:

Pre-Creation Events

Creation on all aspects

Old and New Covenants Law and Grace

Jesus’ Birth, Life, Death, Resurrection, Ascension

Things of the Present such as Jesus at the Right Hand of the Father

His Love for us and the forgiveness of sin

Things to Come such as His second coming;

the resurrection of the dead

Eternity with God for the believer

Eternity of suffering for Unbelief or the sin unto death

Faith without works is dead

It is not enough to just believe

Gained Approval – the ability to be a witness or to Testify

III. Built Upon Understanding

Understand: Perceive or Think maybe a hint of contemplation

Worlds:

Celestial with its inhabitants: Different types of Angels

The Starry and Ethereal Worlds with all in them: Sun; Moon; Planets, Other Stars, Galaxies, etc.

The Terrestrial World: Men, Beasts, Behemoth, Plants, etc.

The Hydrosphere or Watery World Contained in all bodies of water: Fish; mammals; leviathan etc.

Hebrews 1:1-4 Jesus Made the Universe
