PSALMS 1:1-6
1,“Blessed is the man That walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor standeth in the way of sinners, Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; And in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, That bringeth forth his fruit in his season; His leaf also shall not wither; And whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
psalms 1: 4-6
4 The ungodly are not so:
But are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment,
Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous:
But the way of the ungodly shall perish.
1,“Blessed is the man That walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor standeth in the way of sinners, Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
One who walks in the way of the righteous must struggle against the traffic, buffeting against the currents of peer pressure and group-think.
Yet in spite of this, it is still the way of happiness.
2. The study and love of God’s word
meditation is not done silently this was the case in that time but I submitt to you that we need to still pratice this method because when we do the word of God is continualy being heard in our ears
ps 119:11
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, That I might not sin against thee.
SCORNFUL- DISRESPECTFUL
3.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, That bringeth forth his fruit in his season; His leaf also shall not wither; And whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
Here, the life grounded in the Lord’s instruction is likened to a vibrant tree whose roots are sunk deep into the life-giving soil of a river bed
This image is well-suited for the life characterized by study of torah.
The nourishment that sustains the tree is hidden; it is internal nourishment that feeds the life of the tree, drawn up through invisible roots.
THIS LIFE ALSO FORTIFY THE TREE AGAINST HARSH CONDITIONS IN iSRAEL’S CLIMATE BUT ALSO IN LIFE SO THAT IT CAN BEAR FRUIT AT HARVEST TIME THIS WILL ALSO PROTECT US AND OUR FRUIT SHOULD NEVER DEMINISHE
the point is that in all weather conditions the tree flourished
If it is the human, then the point is that the environment created by the wicked cannot extinguish the righteous.
The one who studies God’s instruction is the tree transplanted near water.
the wicked are likened to chaff (mōṣ), which is a helpless victim of the wind.
implies both that the wicked lack the internal fortitude to endure difficulties and also that the time for the wicked to be judged is nigh
To fail in the judgment means that one is simultaneously excluded from the congregation of the righteous; to find a place in the congregation is to avoid the company and fate of sinners.
the way of the wicked is to march down the path of self-destruction
The way of the righteous, is the object of God’s care.
The righteous are distinguished not by any action of their own, but by an action of the Lord’s: God watches over them.
