Jonah 1-4

• Historicity confirmed by Jesus.

1. NARRATIVE.

• Chapter 1

- Jonah is called.

- Jonah runs.

- Jonah is thrown into the sea.

- Jonah is swallowed by a great fish.

• Chapter 2

- Jonah prays in the sea.

- Jonah prays in the fish.

- Jonah is delivered from the sea.

- Jonah is delivered from the fish.

• Chapter 3

- Jonah goes to Nineveh and preaches.

- Nineveh repents and is spared.

• Chapter 4

- Jonah is angry about God’s compassion and grace.

- Jonah is happy about shade from a vine.

- Jonah is angry about the vine’s death and the hot sun.

A. Are you running from God’s will?

B. Are you angry because God is being God?

C. Are you sharing God’s compassion for the lost? (Luke 15)
