11321 W St. Martins Road Franklin, WI 53132 414-431-0532 Pastor Ken Prodzinski 7-24-2022 A Consistent (Antithetical) Argument with a Singular Goal: (1 John 5:1-7) Antithetical: Directly opposed or contrasted, or mutually incompatible. (John has drawn a clear distinction between the children of God and the children of Satan). Sermon Idea: Genuine Christians are God’s children, who are born from above. God’s children are loved by all who love God. Also, they keep His commands because they love God and have overcome the world. And they have overcome the world because they are born from above, and have received as a gift, a genuine saving faith. Here, John combines the doctrinal, the moral, and the social tests, which are designed to produce assurance of salvation which in turn, will restore back to them their fullness of joy. Five Consistent Marks of a Genuine Christian… I. Regeneration: (vs. 1, 4, 6) II. Faith: (vs. 1,4, 5-7) III. Love: (vs. 1-3) IV. Obedience: (vs. 2-3) V. Victory: (vs. 4-7)
