Closeness to God
We spend a lot of time trying to get closer to God but what we must understand is that, We cannot get closer to God than the moment of our salvation.
Read 1:4
What we see here is the recognition of authority.
Jesus’s feet no more hit the sand and he is confronted.
You see where Jesus goes so does Gods authority…where Jesus goes evil must recognize His presence.
When jesus stepped out of the boat immediately the man with an unclean spirit leaves the tombs and goes to him.
Question 1: how are we to react to Jesus’s authority?
Now this man who leaves the tombs and goes to Jesus wastes no time.
he goes directly to Jesus.
Read 2
This man who came to him was what we would call possessed.
In jesus day they would say “unclean” he was even living amongst the tombs which is considered an unclean area.
He was a wild man, crazy, as we read in 3-5
No one was able to bind him, he had broken chains, shackles he had shattered, and noone was strong enough to subdue him.
Ok this guy was scary, I can only imagine that people were hurt by him, esp those who tried to subdue him and had wrestled with him.
I am sure everyone knew who he was and knew for safety to stay away from him.
But this crazy man did what when he saw Jesus.
Read 6-7.
So he saw him coming he saw jesus from a distance…and he ran to Jesus feet.
