Psalm 78:7–8 NIV
7 Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands. 8 They would not be like their ancestors— a stubborn and rebellious generation, whose hearts were not loyal to God, whose spirits were not faithful to him.
keep the faith, continue to shelter in him in this time of trouble.

Hebrews Chapter 1…
Today we are going to continue out studies in the book of Hebrews where we are going to break down some important theological points for a better understanding of this book.
So this book is written to individuals who are feeling defeated and the book opens up speaking of the complete Awe of who Jesus is.
Hebrews 1:1–14 NIV
1 In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. 4 So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs. 5 For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my Son; today I have become your Father”? Or again, “I will be his Father, and he will be my Son”? 6 And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all God’s angels worship him.” 7 In speaking of the angels he says, “He makes his angels spirits, and his servants flames of fire.” 8 But about the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom. 9 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.” 10 He also says, “In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. 11 They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. 12 You will roll them up like a robe; like a garment they will be changed. But you remain the same, and your years will never end.” 13 To which of the angels did God ever say, “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet”? 14 Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?
Similar to the book of Colossians where paul is speaking to the church about standing firm in the faith.
Talks about
Spiritual fullness
Spiritually leading your house hold
Living life Spiritually
But before he can talk about being Filled Spiritually with the Fullness of God’s Glory thought the Holy Spirit he first has to talk about
Who is Jesus. Who is the Sender Who is the Arm stretching down in God’s Glory.
The son who is the image of the invisible God, first born of all creation. For in Him all things were created!
Colasse had Jesus. Some of the Congregants could have seen him. Seen his miracles. Been a micracle through Jesus. Paul Had an encounter with Jesus to the point on
Colossians 1:22–23 NIV
22 But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— 23 if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.
We find hope in the gospel.
We as the church stand firm on this gospel. We stand firm on this good news of Jesus Christ and what he has done for us.
However as we spread the gosple we tend to leave out WHO Jesus is. Theologically there are two points that we have to know. Not just in evangelism. But also for our own faith.
-Who is this Christ?
-And what has he done and the significants for us
In evangelism we often jump to what christ has done before explaining the significance of who He is.
Who is this christ...
When we talk about who christ is no doubt we will also speak of what he has done and the importance.
But we must have a basic understanding of who he is.
Knowing this comes at a point of knowing your exegetical studies on biblical history, promise and fulfillment, story of israel. Knowing the covenant of old so that we can understand Christ and the New covenant and the covering of His blood.
We have a large (narrative) into a smaller more significant story.
We see the scope of creation, fall redemption.
Then we see Christ.
Hebrews 1:3 NIV
3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
This is the best scripture we can quote for the biblical based message of our atonement.
Who is Christ? The Human Representation Of God.
So we go from Jesus and His gospel message to having becoming more superior than angels.
Hebrews 1:4 NIV
4 So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.
Now first time reading in this passage i came across this and wondered like why am i reading this?
Anyone else have those moments of let me hurry up and read pass this part because i dont think this is for me.

Myrtle Beach law:
Cussing in a public place can get you in trouble
Those who get caught publicly using profanity in the City of Myrtle Beach could be taken to jail or issued a citation. The lewd, obscene and profane language ordinance — a misdemeanor falls under the city’s disorderly conduct offense.
See as silly as some of the laws are we do understand that at some point something was a disturbance, a problem.
The people of these cities and this great country voted on it at some point and time.
Most things that are written down are for a reason.
SO we ask.
whats the reason we have the debate between Jesus’ sovereignty over the angels.
Well thanks for asking.
Our passage changes from speaking of Christ to comparing Jesus to angels.
What we have in the rest of this passage we have this comparison and explination of How Much more Jesus is superior than of the angels, We can list it all off but instead lets look at why, more specifically...
Why was this necessary to present this message to the church.
Well in order for us to know the answer we must know the culture. and we know that during the intertestamental time period between the old testament and the Matt 1:1 we histocial evidence.
Upon waiitng we see that judaism created this new culture of a significant belief that put major focus on angels.
Focus on Angels.
many people in Judaism began to look at angels as the protectors of God. The angels would be the ones to rescue israel. When it came to war a high regard was focused on the armies of the angels. And in this time period we have developed a correlation with people focusing on personal angels.
Guardian Angels. The life of Israel became engangled in this awe and wonder almost a dependency of angels. Not to the place of worship however a more lifting up.

angelía [message], angéllō [to announce], anangéllō [to tell], apangéllō [to report], diangéllō [to proclaim], exangéllō [to publish abroad], katangéllō [to proclaim], prokatangéllō [to foretell], katangeleús [herald]

Whats the Significance of an Angel? They are Gods Messengers.
angel means specifics through the bible.
Message
to announce
to tell
to report
to proclaim
to publish abroad
to proclaim
to foretell
herald - official messenger to bring news
Giving Direction The Bible says that Philip was directed to the Ethiopian eunuch by an angel.
Then the angel of the Lord said to Philip, "Get up and go toward the south to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza." (This is a wilderness road) (Acts 8:26).
Deliverance
The Lord also used angels to deliver Peter and John from the hands of the Sadducees.
Then the high priest and all his associates, the members of the party of the Sadducees, were filled with jealousy. They arrested the apostles and put them in jail. But during the night the angel of the Lord opened the doors of the jail and brought them out (Acts 5:17-19).
quick Angelology lesson.... study of angels.
central role for an angel is to be a messenger for God.
Who’s the person of these angels.?
Who are they? They are created beings.
They are not divine, they are creatures made by God.
They do have special privileges, and even power.
Just like they have a specific purpose.
Angels have a special privilege of being with God in the throne room of heaven. They have been able to see God, they are the blessed ones.
Angels are a physical being that are made by God, and messengers of God.
What we have to be careful of is focusing to much on the message God is sending rather then the God who is sending.
We can easily get caught up when God says go or quit a job and began to think well what is God doing. Is God moving this way or that? Attemtping to anticipate and ultiimately loose sight not just on what God has given, But who God is.
They are not merely messengers but also agents of God’s purposes. Angels have killed people, threaten to kill people.
Balms Donkey. The donkey saw the angel first. The angel says : you are very fortunate the donkey stopped. Because if he didn’t it would have lived but you would have died.
Judaism as well as recent history in churches have capitalized in the iconic angel and its wings. Commercialized angels in our own image to portray a beautiful creation.
Gives us this beautiful image that God only creates beauty. Yet when God has ever sent an angel on his behalf he has sent one of such scarse imagery people begin to tremble. The shepherds first words were please(find this scripture)
We in the 21st centUrey have dealt and accommodated the organized angel/s beauty. We may have angels on top of our trees. But i want us to focus in now on the angels but on what we do as the whole in the church today,
We focus in on the Servants and flames of fire.
We have pastors in pulpits, evangelist that have been traveling. Miracle healers. That are all doing a part and piece for the kingdom of God but in the last 10-12 years have began to commercialize themselfs
Pastors now have to brand themselfs to gain a following.
Angels and Pastors alike dont receive a throne. But
Jesus whom has inherited the title and the throne have one that will last forever and ever!
walk this into communion. Worship time…Be authentic. Seek his face. Listen to that newer song you just downloaded. Boom done.
Jesus is Creator, Radiator, Imprint, Upholder, Inheritor, Purifier, and Ruler.
Conclusion
How does this affect us?
Remember the church is demoralized, The church is dying away fading in numbers and strength in the faith. So how does this affect the church?
If we dont recongnize these truths in the world and see the resemblinse in our own lifes then we can easily lose sight on God.
Jesus ask us to remember him.

All of that is in just 300 verses in the book of Hebrews. And that’s not even all!
I wonder, what the remaining 28,000 verses of the Bible say?
God is all of those things. What a way this morning for us to remember him.
1 Corinthians 11:27–32 NIV
27 So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. 28 Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup. 29 For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves. 30 That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep. 31 But if we were more discerning with regard to ourselves, we would not come under such judgment. 32 Nevertheless, when we are judged in this way by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be finally condemned with the world.
1 Corinthians 11:23–26 NIV
23 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
The Body:
Father God, thank you for this bread that is the body of your son and my Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you Jesus that you took my sins, my worries my sickness upon your own body. Thank you for the body that took upon the weight of my external and internal sins. I know you lived, and were crucified. As i was crucified with you Jesus. My old life is in the past and now you live in me. I live by faith and complete trust in you Jesus. Thank you for your precious body. .
The Blood:
the bible says Lev 17:11
Leviticus 17:11 NIV
11 For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one’s life.
that the life of the flesh is in the blood. We just partook of the body and are now holding the represented cup of blood. Representing the blood of christ. which stands for life. When we partake of this blood here in a few moments it will give life to the body. Father we recongnize we are holding the most important and precious thing in the world right now. The blood has the complete power to deal with my sins. This blood has the power not only to deal with my sin but one day soon the sin of this world. Jesus i thank you for the shedding of your blood. Today we recieve your blood and a new and fresh infilling of your life and spirit in jesus name. Glory to God.
Let us drink the Blood.
One of the things we notice about the book of hebrews is the focus on Jesus, very direct like colossians. Paul deals with the person of Christ first. c
Versus that stand out to me.
Vs 9 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of Joy.
Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Soverign lord is on me, because the lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners
3- and provide for those who grieve in Zion to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.
What a message this author has for his people. Making this comparison to the Old Tesatment. We all know the Old Testament is Promises and the New Testament is Fulfilment.
This is exactly why the author refers back to Isiah in this moment. A people that are discourgaed they are lacking in the faith, Whom have seen a falling away in the church.
Losing connections with friends and families.
Battling living in the flesh more so than in the Spirit and the author takes you back to the authenticity of our Father in heaven to the point of the promise that was once made.
Now its been fulfilled the church was spirit filled.
The church was devoted.
And when you are devoted when you learn to lean on his understanding and not your own.
Lean on his sovereignty not your ability
Then The Spirit of The Lord whom lives in you can give you the ultimate joy you need. The fullness of joy
Romans 6 from sin to freedom
Vs 11-13
They will perish, but you remain……But you remain the same and your years will never end.
We walk from
Salvation Story 3.
The son is the radiance of God’s Glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the majesty in heaven.
Who Jesus is. 1-7
-How he is above the angels.
Did you know theres a word for the Study of Angels? Its Angelology. Literally Study of Angels.
Now angels are agents of God.
Can talk about angelology here.
Where Jesus is.8-9
