This week people who lose track of Jesus

Matthew 7:21–23 ESV

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

Essentially Jesus is saying people may call me Lord and do things in my name, but I don’t know them

Who says Lord, Lord?

Respect, Honor, Right Action

People who have done “good” to go to heaven

VS 22

People who prophesy

Cast out demons

Do many mighty works

Actions are an outflow - not the main thing

Main - Byproducts

Cream / Skim Milk

Butter / Butter Milk

Cheese / Whey

The main thing is the will of the father!

You are not saved by works, but grace

Ephesians 2:8–9 ESV

Jesus uses a relationship word - “My Father”

so what is the issue with the people who do good works but Jesus doesn’t know them?

I never knew you - one-sided relationship

To be known is to be loved.

To be loved is to be changed.

This is the invitation
