Text: Daniel 3:17-27
Daniel 3:15–27 NKJV
15 Now if you are ready at the time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, lyre, and psaltery, in symphony with all kinds of music, and you fall down and worship the image which I have made, good! But if you do not worship, you shall be cast immediately into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. And who is the god who will deliver you from my hands?” 16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. 17 If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. 18 But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.” 19 Then Nebuchadnezzar was full of fury, and the expression on his face changed toward Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. He spoke and commanded that they heat the furnace seven times more than it was usually heated. 20 And he commanded certain mighty men of valor who were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, and cast them into the burning fiery furnace. 21 Then these men were bound in their coats, their trousers, their turbans, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. 22 Therefore, because the king’s command was urgent, and the furnace exceedingly hot, the flame of the fire killed those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. 23 And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. 24 Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished; and he rose in haste and spoke, saying to his counselors, “Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?” They answered and said to the king, “True, O king.” 25 “Look!” he answered, “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.” 26 Then Nebuchadnezzar went near the mouth of the burning fiery furnace and spoke, saying, “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, servants of the Most High God, come out, and come here.” Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego came from the midst of the fire. 27 And the satraps, administrators, governors, and the king’s counselors gathered together, and they saw these men on whose bodies the fire had no power; the hair of their head was not singed nor were their garments affected, and the smell of fire was not on them.
“I’ll Make it Out Alright”
If we can be honest this morning, A lot of us feel that since we are Christians, We are exempt from the experience of trouble.
That because we pay our tithes,
Because we half way live right,
Because we have a bit of a prayer life,
That we are exempt from the experience of trouble.
But the truth of the Matter is, Being a christian does not exempt you from the experience of trouble.
for it is Job writes, “man who is born of a woman, is of a few days, and those days are filled with trouble.”
However,
Though we are not exempt from the experience of trouble,
We are exempt from the effects of what the experience may bring.
In other words, you may have to go through it, but the effects of what you go through, won’t be the same when God is with you.
Noah was not exempt from the flood, but while everyone else was drowning, noah was floating.
Job was not exempt from losing everything, but after a while he got back double what he lost,
David was not exempt from near death experiences, but God kept him from what could have killed him,
Paul still got bit from a snake, but what could’ve killed him, did not.
even Jesus, was not exempt from calvary, he was still hung high, still stretched wide, he still died but the effects were different.
EARLY.
So here in the text we find that King King Nebuchadrezar has built a golden image. One that he loved and adored.
History shows that on the tenth year of his reign, there was a revolt led against him.
Some believed that the reason why he built this image was for a loyalty test. To see if ones would do what he said, when he said.
He made a decree that one must Bow and worship the Golden image when they hear the sound of the music,
There are now 3 young Hebrew boys who have been taken from their homes, 3 of many young men, taken from their homes in jerusalen, to serve the king in babylon.
These 3 young men, found favor with the king on behalf of daniel, and they were set to rule over administration.
it is then now, we find out that these 3 young men, who have just gotten a promotion, have been stuck with the difficult task of either serving the king or serving God.
If they serve God, they make the king angry.
If they serve the King, they would have sold out and broken the second commandment.
Thes boys are in between a rock and a hard ship,
and this text will teach us, How we can make it out, of this rough place.
The first thing you have to do is

Be COURAGEOUS in your CONVICTIONS.

When you look at the text you see that Shadrach, meshach, and abednego were caught not bowing to the golden image.
The bible says that the king finds out. Bring them into his office,
Set the music to try to give them another chance, and they STILL DID NOT BOW.
and sometimes the enemy’s desire is to shake you and keep you from serving God, but if you be Strong, in God, god will get you through, what the enemy tries to destroy you with.
the bible says
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh,
They stumbled and fell.
be courageous in your convictions. Be strong, know that God will be with you.
There was nothing that the king could do that would make them bow.
You have to be Courageous in your Convictions,
but secondly

Be CONTENT with your CONCLUSION.

It was evident, that if they did not bow, they get thrown into the fire,
that if they did not bow, They would be thrown in.
The king says, if I though you in, will your God save you.
They say our God is able, But if not, we still won’t serve your God.
In other words I know God can, He has the power to help us. He has the power to do what he promises, but if he doesn’t WE KNOW HE’S ABLE.
I KNOW GOD IS ABLE, BUT IF HE DOESN;T I CAN FACE THE CONSEQUENCES.
I’D RATHER LIVE FOR GOD AND FACE MAN’S CONSEQUENCES THAN TO LIVE FOR MAN AND FACE GOD’S CONSEQUENCES
you have to be content with your conclusion. you have to learn to say “ God I’m okay with however this turns out”
God if you heal me or not you’re able
God if you pay my bills or not you’re able
God if you fix my marriage or not, you’re able.
God’s ability is not based on my reality!!
So the king, in rage tells his men to turn the fire up 7 times hotter.
the king’s men binds them up, and thows them in face down.
not only do you have to be COURAGES IN YOUR CONVICTIONS
NOT ONLY DO YOU HAVE TO BE CONTENT WITH YOUR CONCLUSION
BUT THEN YOU HAVE TO BE

CONFIDENT IN CHRIST’S COMPANY

The bible says the king asked the question,
Did not I throw 3 in bound, yet I see 4 and the 4th looks like the son of God.
Now this furnace was built on a hill. This furnace has an opening in the top, and one on the side.
The side of the furnace is for the king to look and see if the fire consumes a person.
The top is where they put them in.
and some asked the question, How did Jesus get there.
Some would say, we was already in the furnace, and while we are wanting to get out, its safer inside, and I get that.
But I believe, The same place they used to throw them in, is the same place God uses to show himself mighty.
Your enemies think they are doing something by the way they throw you in, but they don’t realize is that is the same way that God will show up.
They tried to use a rumor to throw you in, but once God got in the midst of it, that rumor made you some money.
They thought they’d use money to throw you in, but once God got in the midst.
This furnace sits on a hill, and the Son of God shows up, and saves them on the hill.
This may have been his first time saving on a hill, but it definitely wont be his last,
because in the new testament,
the son of God shows up and saves up ON A HILL.
The bible never says that the fire stopped, but the bible says they were walking in the fire
Jesus did not do anything spectacular, but the mere fact HE WAS PRESENT.
and I want to give you some hope today and let you know God Is with you.
He’s still Emmanuel, God with us,
for the bible says
“He will never leave you or forsake you.”
Hes with us.
“and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.”
He’s with us.
“even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for God is with is. “
AND BECAUSE OF THIS YOU CAN BE CONFIDENT IS HIS COMPANY.
THEY WERE NOT SITTING, THEY WERE NOT LAYING, THEY WERE NOT TRYING TO GET OUT, BUT THEY WERE WALKING.
BE CONFIDENT AND KNOW THAT GOD IS WITH YOU.
HE WAS WITH US THROUGH THE PANDEMIC
HE WAS WITH US THROUGH SOCIAL AND RACIAL INJUSTICE
HE WAS WITH YOU IN THAT SICKNESS
GOD IS WITH ME.
THEY CAME OUT
THEY TAKE THEM OUT OF THE FIRE. THEY DIDNT LOOK LIKE OR SMELL LIKE SMOKE.
THEY CAME OUT ALRIGHT
THEY HAD COME OUT UNBOUND AND UNBOTHERED.
THEY CAME OUT ALRIGHT.
YOU CAN COME OUT ALRIGHT.
BUT WHAT GETS ME IS THE KING SAYS BLESSED BE THE GOD OF ISRAEL.
AT FIRST HE THOUGHT HE WAS GOD.
LASTLY BE CONSCIOUS OF THE CONVERSION.
THE KING SERVED GOD,
IN THE NEXT CHAPTERS HE TALKS ABOUT HOW GREAT THE SIGNS AND WONDERS OF GOD ARE.
