Do the Book of Ecclesiastes?
The Book of Ecclesiastes in chapter number 12, me looking at 1 verse there.
But they will be looking at several verses throughout this this evening.
Ecclesiastes chapter number 12 in verse 13.
He says, let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter.
Fear God, and keep his Commandments.
For this is the whole duty of man want to speak to you this evening, on this thought, the fear of the Lord, the fear of the Lord.
Once again, go to our Lord and time of prayer, Our Father Lord, I do pray that you would help us for to grasp the message to night, Lord, help us to have a clear understanding of what it means to fear.
You are the we know that it is seen throughout all the scripture and father, we pray God, that's we would have a new sense of fear but also our country and yeah even entire world would once again have a fear of you Father we ask you Lord of again bless this time.
Bless the time of our prayer and just a moment.
I'll give you the praise and glory.
We ask this in Jesus name, amen, I think you would all would have to mit's and agree with me that we are living in a crooked and perverse generation, right?
You don't even have to turn on the TV to know that.
All you have to do is go to Walmart at night and you will see that we are living in a crooked and perverse generation for sure.
There's no denying that truth.
But the question is this, why is that Why are we living in such crazy days or the answer is found?
In Romans 3 chapter Romans Chapter 3, Verse 18, where it says there is no fear of God, Before Their Eyes, no fear of God before their eyes.
That is the answer.
That is a reason why we see the things that we're seeing today.
Really unexplainable things that we're seeing today.
Men simply do not fear the lord in our day.
There was a time when our nation was very young and early America.
That there was a sense of fear of God.
Even to those who are not even Christian, there was still a sense of reverence and fear for gone, but we do not live in such days today.
So this is one topic that the Bible has a lot to say it is not that we do not fear God today in America because the bible really doesn't say a whole lot about it and all the opposite is true.
The Bible says a whole lot about fearing the Lord so I want to take just a few moments this evening and think about this matter of fearing the Lord.
And I understand that and I know that this message is not going to change our world.
However, my prayer is that it changes me and it changes you.
We may not be able to change the entire world but we can change our world by implementing the things of gods.
Were the first thing I noticed with me this evening is this the fear of the Lord defined?
What's the definition of the fear of the Lord?
For the Bible tells us that Solomon who was the wisest man who ever lived 1st.
Kings chapter 4, verse.
31 tells us that and so, when he says that the entire sum of life is to fear God, And it is recorded for us in scripture, then we ought to take note of that as being very important.
And we ought to understand why just exactly what it is talking about when he says fear God.
I say this because in truth we have a great misunderstanding concerning this matter of fear.
Webster defines fear as an unpleasant often strong emotion, caused by anticipation, or awareness of danger.
And we all at some point or another have felt that kind of fear and that is not pleasant at all.
But this is not the idea of what Solomon is talking about.
The word used for fear in this verse and most other verses in the Old Testament that are dealing with this subject.
The word means to stand in awe of to reverence to honor into respect.
And so when Solomon says, fear God, he's saying stand in all of him, honor him respect him.
And so you see today that when I say that, we no longer live in a nation that fears God, it's quite clear that we no longer live in a nation that respects God, honors God.
So that's what the word means to fear the lord.
It is not mean that we cringe.
Are we tremble?
Every time we hear his name, But it does mean that we honor him and that we respect him and that we humbly reverence him.
It means that we stand in awe of his greatness.
Basically what this means is that when we are in the presence of the Lord, we will not treat him as if he is just some good buddy of ours.
We won't desire to if we could somehow just slap him on the back and hang out.
It means that when we are aware of his presence, we will will react in all.
And in reverence, I believe it might be helpful.
For us to look at several Bible passages.
How these individuals reacted when they were brought into the presence of the Lord, take her bowels and turn with me to Jobe chapter 42.
Jobe chapter number 42.
Verse 1.
Job, 42 verse 1. says, then job answered the Lord and said, I know that you can do everything and that no purpose of yours can be withheld from you.
You asked who is this who hides counsel without knowledge?
Therefore, I have uttered.
What?
I did not understand things too.
Wonderful for me, which I do not know.
Listen, please, and let me speak.
You said I will question you and you shall answer me.
I have heard of you by the hearing of the ear but now my eyes.
See you there for.
I abhor myself and repent in dust and Ashes and then turn to Isaiah chapter 6. Isaiah chapter number 6.
We're familiar with this passage of scripture.
Where the prophets, the great prophet Isaiah.
Seize the Lord high and lifted up Isaiah chapter 6, verse 1.
Says, in the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne high and lifted up and a train of his robe.
Filled the temple above its stood seraphim.
Each one had six wings with two.
He covered his face and with two, he covered his feet and with two he flew and one Cried unto another and said, holy holy holy is the Lord of hosts.
The whole earth is full of his glory and the post of the door, were shaken by the voice of him, who cried.
And the house was filled with smoke.
So I said, whoa, is me for I am undone because I am a man of unclean, lips and dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips for my eyes, have seen the king, the Lord of hosts.
And then turn to Luke chapter 5. Luke chapter number 5. We see here in this chapter Simon Peter.
Who is reluctant?
To follow the lord, Jesus commands.
Luke Chapter 5, and verse number one.
So it was as the multitude pressed about him, that is Jesus to hear the word of God that he stood by the lake of the Nazareth and saw two, both standing by the lake but the fishermen had gone from them and we're washing their Nets, then he got into one of the boats which was Simon's and asked him to put out from the land, a little from the land and sat down and talked the multitude from the boat.
When he had stopped speaking, he said to Simon Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a cash.
But Simon answered and said to him Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing.
Nevertheless at your word, I will let down the net.
And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish and their net was breaking.
So they signal to their Partners in the other boat to come and help them and they came and feel the both the boats so that they began to sink when Simon Peter saw it.
He fell down at Jesus.
Knew you saying, depart from me for, I am a sinful man.
Oh Lord for he and all who were with him, were astonished at the catch.
A fish wish they had taken I've been turned to Acts chapter 9. Acts chapter number 9, we go from Simon Peter, who is just absolutely in awe.
The very power.
The presence of the Lord Jesus to the Apostle.
Paul at this time it is Saul of Tarsus and Acts chapter number 9 and verse number one Then saw still breathing threats and murder against the Disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest and asked letters from him to the synagogue's of Damascus.
So that if he found any, who were of the way with her men and women, he might bring them down to Jerusalem as he journeyed.
He came near Damascus that suddenly a light Shone around him, from heaven, then he fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him.
Saul Saul, why are you persecuting me?
And he said, who are you?
Lord.
Then the Lord said, I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.
